Videos?

Hey at the last two events I've been to, (thread of elements and tourney) I have noticed people filming the sunday morning wave battles. I was wondering if those have been posted anywhere? Or if I could contact people privately to perhaps get a copy of those recordings? As nerdy as it is I actually sort of like watching those crazy waves. ;)
 
Yeah, the last event already has been posted. I'm working on uploading the one for the Tourney. :p I posted a thread with a link to my MySpaceTV, where I had all the videos uploaded. Here's a direct link.

EDIT: All videos are available in higher definition through about 100MB files, which I can upload to one of those mega-file sites if requested.

Justin and I watched it last night on Mahspam and laughed our heads off. Oh, and by the way, you rhino hide hardcore. ; P And Jeremy of the Kuh's needs to finish his incants. hahaha. Oh.. so many rules infractions - but dammit, we all were having fun! : )

Yeah, I watched that and didn't realise I was throwing the packet as I finished the final verbals... Just ahalf second pause more on those throws would make them good. I guess I need to slow up on that spellcasting, or at least time my throwing better.After you watch it you can hear when I throw the packet, its on the point I emphasive the most in the spell verbal. With mystic force I BIND you!
 
A LOT of people do that. I've done it too. It's because that's the emphasis in your head, so you feel the need to punctuate it. (IE, it's a bind instead of a pin, web or confine). But yep, it's blown. But because so many other people do the same thing, we often forget to call it as such.
 
i have been trying to change my casting habbits to add a beat in my head to the end of each incant before throwing. I use the time to really focus on my target. especially magic storms. magic storm...(pause).. throw... magic storm...(pause).. throw...
 
Chazz brought up something that although sounds crazy, I think is absolutely awesome and has really improved my casting issues with throwing on my inflection word.

With mystic force I pin you -uh-. *cast* you say this a bunch of times, but then when you cast, the -uh- is said internally.

Can you put it up on youtube so it can be embedded in other websites please?

I'd prefer any videos that have me in them NOT be on Youtube or any other non friends-only site.

Toddo makes a good point.

There are some players who have NOT given permission for their image to be used publicly for Alliance purposes. You really should check with your chapter owner to find out if any of them are in the video you intend to post BEFORE posting.

There are also a good number of us that work in industries where something like this can be very detrimental to their career. Whether we like it or not, LARPing is not yet an accepted mainstream hobby, and as such, can be looked upon very poorly by employers, clients and other business contacts.

On the other side of the coin, there are at least a few people I know of who are under contracts (acting, modeling, etc) who are not permitted to appear in things not produced by the folks with whom they have said contract.

For several reasons, these videos probably should not be for public consumption, but for our own memories and amusement on a password protected site.
 
Then someone had better take down the one on Myspace since anyone seems to be able to access it. And do it fast before my modeling career is ruined.
 
It wouldn't be going on YouTube. First off, some of 'em are just too damn long... Second off, MySpace allows you to make them non-searchable, so they can't be found by a random look.
 
Except you can view any of these topics w/o being a member..... Also most of the releases you signed to play state that you immage and likeness can be used, you need to state that you DON'T want it to be used (I believe in writing).

Yes, but these videos are independantly produced and not for advertising or promotional purposes. If Alliance or HQ were making these vdeos to promote the game (or if it's photos for the website) it'd be a different story. I'm not saying pull em down, but I would like to request that if it's going to be posted on myspace you set it to "viewable by friends only". I know I'm not the only one who has these issues and I remember voicing a similar opinion several months ago on another thread.

Well, I also know that not everyone here has a MySpace account, which is why I just set it to private, so people who know of my channel can view them, not random searchers. Then if anyone has a problem with MySpace, they can still go and look by my redirection. If you really want though, I could set them to just friends...
 
I'd prefer it, as would a couple people who aren't as comfortable being a jerk on the forums.
 
I don't see the difference. If I take a video and people see it, it promotes the game. If Mike V takes a video and people see it, it promotes the game. So I would say the video will be used to promote the game no matter who gets it done.

I mean either you want people to see the video or you don't. Why does it matter if it's being made by the Alliance or by an Alliance player?
