Why I loved the opener...(or favorite moments)

Despite being low on npc's the crew ran a very tight ship. I honestly can't remember the last time we had such short wait times for mods. You guys did great. I personally loved the library mod and the puppet's. It was a different kind of challenging, causing frustration at times forcing us to think our way around our opponents instead of simply bashing through them. Also while there was constant frustration there wasn't this constant thoughts of "This is super nasty" or "I wonder how many life spells/cure lights we have altogether". It was a different type of challenge and different is always good. Wasn't the greatest outcome with the golem getting destroyed but it was a very cool atmosphere altogether.

Despite my character not wanting to be there the mod under the city of "Iz" was very creative. A little more typical of the common mod "kill things in front of us" but combined with the new wrinkles of the maze like atmosphere and tight spaces forced us to adapt and change our way of combat. Plus it made up for lack of NPC's once again challenging us without having to simply scale up the cards. I always love new challenges without simply adding the threat of extreme danger in the mix (not that there isn't a place for those mods or encounters but I don't like it when that is the default answer to add new things).

Was happy to get my own mission for the first time in forever and even though I failed it was great to have all the support of my guild mates and friends. It was a fun mod too, again challenging without feeling hopeless or overwhelmed. Hopefully I'll get more of a chance to follow up next time I get home.

favorite moments of the weekend:

"Did I ever tell you the one about the one legged hooker"Me

"Seven times.....but if you ever hear a story about a three legged hooker you can tell me that one" Bowen

"I have a present for you" Raynne

"It's a rock" me
"It's a very special rock"

"I think you are having fun with me"

"Get your *** back inside!" Me to Jax

"You're not the boss of him" Voss

"Yes I am"

"Oh OK then" (I wanted to laugh so hard)

The constant debate between me and Raynne. We are always challenging ourselves to make the best possible decisions for the best reasons.

Raz, Graydin, and I trading blows and having to refit. Laughing my *** off the whole time.

The back and forth with Scroatcleaver over the land we are negotiating for. His stern warnings coming off as advice on how to run land. His almost taunting challenge at Raz calling him “Shipmaster” mockingly and each time Raz answering the bell with the right answer. Very fun RP.

I know I am forgetting a bunch of stuff but honestly it's too much to put on this one page. I was happy to come home and it was well worth the trip. I can't wait until I can make the next one

Also special thank you to all the PC’s this weekend. Not once did I see a PC snap at an NPC, runner, or marshal. I know at times it can be frustrating when you're tired and cranky and things just aren't adding up. But it's never good to take it out on the volunteers. Especially the new ones because that's the next generation coming through.

I am so happy that you had fun Derek. It makes my day that it was worth you coming up for. I want nothing more than to have every PC that comes to our chapter have fun. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us all as well. Thank you man and I can't wait till you can come up again :).

I agree it was a good weekend. It was a fairly straight forward weekend, with some rust breaking and Alliance is back in swing! I may have not stated it to you in person, but I was really happy to see everyone I hadn't seen all winter.

My favor moments in no order:
-Gifting rocks to Rook and Graydin. Both of their reactions were pretty funny.
-Continued use of mental abilities in mod, to scouting if someone is friend or foe to altering a defeated enemy commander perception of the battle;
-The prevention of the merging of Arden and Broken Lands/battling the Tempi. Everyone doing their part. Being the only healer on a side for a time and communicating the battle to those in the fray;
-Being hired to recover yet another crown. Vanguard, your trusted crown recovery specialist;
-The "Silverguard Alliance" I was happy with how flawlessly it work and shared opinions;
-Rook isn't always right. It most certainly wasn't a deathtrap;
-War Chief Scrotcleaver proving a chieftan is no dummy and great advice regarding land development;
-Morning meditation at my circle which required disturbing a bunch of deer, who tried to come back to only flee again once they realized I was still there;
-Accidentally making me less allergic to Ahlana;
-Creepy puppet (great makeup!);
-Tavern display of justice. The tension in the room as a fellow adventurer is put to death over a theft. The debate of do I challenge this?;
-RP, home-longing of both Gwen and Ahlana;
-A catacomb crawl with walls!
-Woken up early Sunday, to learn of a theft;

My only beef this weekend use the use of terror. Terror seems to be more common then fear.

Thanks everyone for coming and thank you for all our npcs/plot/those who crossed the fence to run!

I also had a blast this weekend, for sure. Cant wait to return in two weeks!

Top 5:

1 - Icy Fire Guy who nonchalantly counted as Durk, Shiny, and Foss hit him.... then he just walked away.
2 - Crumbling Catacombs ramp-up mod. Tons of fun and a really great mechanic!
3 - Destroy the Rock Saturday Night! Again, a really great mechanic and very intense fight for all parties involved.
4 - Explaining to everyone that A.) Durk is a Werewolf and B.) Durk is not a Child of the Moon Werewolf but a Shattered Werewolf. I guess I never explained that to anyone, LOL. Maybe no one ever asked? It was fun telling everyone tho!
5 - Seeing everyone I haven't seen in a while!

John AKA GJ

The King's walk of shame breakfast...

The poor spinach farmer being drafted. Don't worry, we will train him well.

The blood lake mod, that was a tough one made tougher by PCs being dumb (me included).

Working on a puzzle for a while, handing it off, working on it some more,
"Whats this puzzle for anyways?"
"Nothing, I just like puzzles."

Finally being just as confused as everyone else as we all go into new lands.

Thank you everyone for a great weekend. Can't wait to make it up again in a few months!

Oh wow, I didn't know Durk was a Child of the Moon, sorry I got that wrong.

Great Opener. Information overload. Big thanks to Thetford, Long, Genevieve, Doug and all the rest of the NPCs. Every NPC helps immensely in making this game great. Thanks for entertaining me. So much was ran. Special shout out to Inger, Baylan and Ian. You weren't running anything for me, but by relieving some of the load for the plot team, it made my event even better. Thank you.

My moments of 'downtime' were self inflicted and great moments to stew in frustration at plot and puzzles. (Screw you Long :D ) There are a lot of moving parts. All good stuff.

Couple highlights:
1. The two 'big' fights. Both different and fun. It was also great to see that not every fight was an epic test.
2. All the misinformation about the broken lands. Questioning everything.
3. Taios wanting his game to start. :)
4. Dave and Amy: Excellent adaptation with the food. Not having a real kitchen has got to be frustrating. Thanks for still putting out good chow.
5. On an entirely selfish note, it felt really good that some of my contacts mattered, and things from last season came through.
6. Stupid paladins and their stupid faces being stupid, and not wanting to talk. Jerks. :)
7. Hating void mages for their Dark power. Then seeing the ability in the hands of townsfolk. And having to make.... choices.
8. All the Greater Elf banter with Inger. Eventually I'll catch up to all the completely transform-related powers he's accumulated.

Some minor Comments.
Everything seemed focused on the Broken lands. Not much happening in Arden Prime. After reading some above comments, this may just be the hooks I saw, and plot is giving different groups different sandboxes to play in.
I'm worried, the information overload is double edged. It can cause stagnation and confusion, or frustration and exhaustion "I don't even give a sh!t, anymore." Both seem non-interactive with plot. However, this is my first experience with accumulating the information, so it could be an unfounded concern, and I just need to get better.

See you in two weeks!

-Joe

The greater elf banter we've had over the past few weeks has been fun.

For those of you not involved, Joe keeps telling me the only reason I can do anything is because I'm a greater elf. I walked up behind him in the woods, he blamed it on that. I hit a guy with 3 eviscerates, he blamed it on that.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PUT THAT SHROOM AWAY SATAN!!!!

But seriously, best event I've gone to so far. Favorites including, but not limited to:

1) Chris coming taking my plot ideas and character premise, turning it into a WoW legendary quest, and literally blowing my mind.

2) I HAVE AN ARCH NEMESIS!!!!!!!

3) "HOLD. Five Lightning Storms." (Immediately from everyone): WHAT?!?

4) Having the most hauntingly accurate character destiny and plot reading of all time done by Lydia and the Elder Dragon. I was IRL speechless, and still in awe (also a little creeped out).

5) Learning and playing a new game Saturday night (Small World), being told "this isn't a game that is won on the first few turns", and then watching Thetford get his *** handed to him on a silver platter first turn. ALL HAIL TAIOS, DESTROYER OF WORLDS!!!

Thank you all so much for such a great atmosphere! Plot team, you rock, and I am SO EXCITED for next event!

- Evan. (Wycliff)

Thankyou NPCs! Y'all ran a great game and I was so happy to be a part if it. Thankyou to everyone for accepting Me even though pebbles was always stuck to tets, it was a different and rewarding feeling to be a loner!

I loved coming into game and writhing two minutes I was in a 1 vs. 3 situation near the tavern and ended up going down within five minutes. Lol good times.

The late night hillbilly robberies in the basement was hilarious! I was just sleep deprived enough that everything about sent pebbles giggling. Good times.

See y'all in two weeks

This has probably been my favorite event so far. Granted, I've only been playing for a year, so this is only my second opener. In no particular order:

  • Advancing my personal plot, and that of a few other Squishables was great.
  • Big thanks to those who ran the mod in the Broken Lands that involved my plot specifically. It gave Cena a lot to think about, and opened her eyes to things she's never thought about before. It was really fun on an oog level.
  • The Cheshire cat-like creatures. The makeup was so good and creepy, several people(me included) didn't want to make eye contact at first! The riddles were fun and lighthearted too.
  • Kit asking me why I wasn't dancing on the table after I got some good wine in my belly.
  • Foss finding a nice pile of static(leaves) in the Broken Lands and promptly laying down and covering himself with it.
  • Shrine hopping! It was way too much fun to watch people interact with their respective Elders' shrines, and Liddia's fortune telling at the various shrines made it even more fun. Those readings were way too accurate, especially with Rob taking time after each one to translate it into personal plot-type things, and it was fun to roleplay.
  • The return of the Wilderkin "trainer". I asked him why he was there, found out, told Liddia, and left the tavern soon after so Cena didn't have to be around...that.
I will admit I was a bit bummed out that I missed out on at least one town mod, but I'm over it, because this event has helped me get a better idea of who and what Cenarith is and who and what she wants to be on an in-game and out-of-game level, and that makes me really happy. A really nonstop whirlwind, but a great event overall, I think.

I had a blast running mods and taking some of the pressure off of plot, that was my favorite part of the weekend. The lightning mod at the end was really creative as well, and I had a blast. Also, talking with Syver and Hazel about handling the dragon cut issue was interesting to say the least.

I'm with everyone else who says they can't wait for two weeks from now. See you all then I hope!

I too had an awesome time! Thanks NPCs and PCs both for being a part of this game.

These were some of my favorites:
- Casting the DFM on the ward stone - I really enjoyed being able to fully RP a ritual, as well as the following "Oh s***" reactions when my eyes stopped glowing after.
- Getting super drunk Saturday night in celebration of 1 year of the marriage cloak.
- Running mods for people
- "Of course Link can tree walk... He's a greater elf!"
- Being an obnoxious gypsy, as always. Specifically the Barbarian Hand Face Tribe, the Vardo Storage Minstrel Show, and mistaking the wylderkin trainer for a pirate (Then realizing who he was and walking away).

See you all soon!

I had an amazing time. Lots of aspects I haven't encountered in ages.
Ahlana... well... she didn't have so much fun. But oh lord, the RP.

IBGA Shenanagins. Really plot? Make me hate you before the season even starts? I love that my encounter was logical and well immersed. I kept trying to pursue it all weekend, to no avail.
The Silverbane/Vanguard alliance. I really enjoy the interaction and RP with you guys... even when it isn't pleasant.
RP at the gate with Gwen.
A Boar? Really? Ouch. I have not been that truly afraid for YEARS (like 10?). I was jumping at shadows for hours after. And devising my get away plan if it showed up again.
Teaching ritual casting. And my wandering student.
The library. I wish we could have pushed further... not that my crumbled remains would have been any help. (and your makeup was creepy as hell!)
Intense RP with Raz about the true impact of being Timeless.
Answering riddles from the Plane of Riddles creatures... and giving them one they still haven't answered.
Chasing shadows.
Enjoying my shrine of solitude. I really do enjoy this, and it has happened the last few events. I think I may make it an official thing.
Avoiding the "war" I refuse to be part of. (Until the end when EVERYONE was going :( )
Pete, Pette, and Pettee.
Lynch Mob. I appreciate your intensity. Sorry I was awake to negate your preparations.
Angry Ahlana. Although I hate the cause, the RP was intense, on multiple fronts.

This was a fun opener for me even when I wasn't forwarding my personal plot. A good event to "shake off the rust."

Favorite Moments:
-Helping Ikari(sp?) become a good future adventurer through the 12 Lessons of Adventuring
-"Well, depends on how you look at that. We got invited to a party and brought the house down!"-Ara the Great
-Getting uncomfortable/concerned when Banradi's eyes stopped glowing
-Watching Syver's KS (It really was pretty awesome to watch)
-Getting attacked by some chaos creature and running away from it into a tree, then the chaos creature asking if I was okay and walking away.
-Listening to Link barate Kit for eating all of the dinners
-One year anniversary of Marriage Cloak and drinking with the Gypsies and Lydia(sorry if sp).
-"Link, some people have to drink away their feelings, because we actually have them."

Can't wait for next Friday!
