Alliance LARP operates as a network of volunteer franchises dedicated to creating an incredible, immersive live action fantasy experience. We work together to ensure that an attendee at any Alliance LARP event can expect the same system, rules and high standard of event excellence.
If you are interested in joining our chapter network and feel that you meet the following criteria, please read on to see how you can become a member of our growing Alliance family.
Requirements:
-
You are over the age of 21, and are a mature and responsible employed individual.
-
You have the appropriate expectations. Running a LARP is a labor of love, and unfortunately not a means to making money. However, you should be able to run a financially self-sustaining game.
-
Alliance is based around the “R” of LARP. We are roleplaying game first, and a combat game second.
-
You will be expected to abide by the bylaws of the Alliance. This includes not changing any rules of the game, following treasure policies, and other restrictions which promote consistency between chapters.
-
Please have appropriate funds squared away first to invest in your chapter. You will need to make an initial investment to procure coins, NPC weaponry and costuming, insurance and web presence. You will be expected to have all of these prior to your first event.
-
Please prepare a short history of the in-game lands where your campaign will be taking place, and an outline of your first year’s plot. Also include first year plot goals, as well as ideas about the local countries and cultures in your land. This proves to our organization you are looking at running a complex and quality game.
To start an Alliance campaign, there are also franchise fees, but out of that money the organization will provide you with the following:
Starting coin
Access to the National Database
Access to the Monster Database
Tag Templates
Treasure Generator
Sample Modules
Best Practices Documentation
Contact Information for Props and Supplies
Game Marketing Advice
You will also be subscribed to the Owner’s section of our National Forums where you can seek advice, vote on By-Laws, and give opinions on issues to the other stake holders of our game. You will also be invited to the bi-annual Symposium where you can coordinate with other chapter owners and discuss the future of Alliance. We happily promote all of our chapters on our national site, and take pride that each one runs a quality game that meets our expectations.
Please note we do get a lot of inquiries about wanting to start chapters, but our standards are very high. We will not open a chapter that we feel cannot meet these expectations of a quality game, and we will also close chapters who no longer meet them.
However, if you are accepted into the Alliance network, here is what we offer:
Our reputation for running quality games is well known in the LARP community, as well as being one of the oldest continually running games in North America. Secondly, characters of the Fortannis campaign can travel between chapters. This means your players can play the same character all over the country. You will also be able to use a rules system that has been playtested for over twenty-five years and is a consistent and easy to learn system.
The Alliance LARP rules system is owned by BFM Live Action Entertainment, LLC. We take pride in the fact that this organization is run as highly efficient as possible, and is producing top quality games that really are ‘what you see is what you get’.
If you think you are interested and meet the stated expectations, please send an email to bfmlarp@gmail.com.
