    Metal Breasplate

A very nice additional detail. I once saw an episode of Nova about Samurai swords (katana), their contruction and their metalurgical and physiochemical properties. In it they had some really fine illustrations of these principles. They described the use of two kinds of steel -- which took a...

    Metal Breasplate

It's not a matter of compaction -- as metal is worked it actually stiffens. That is why metal is reheated (annealed) which softens the metal and allows it to continue to be worked. All of this occurs on the molecular level (t0o small a level to allow any actual compaction). The metal is actually...

Your level determines how many Experience Points you need to get a Build Point. The table shows the character’s level based on the total Build Points. It also shows the number of XP needed for the next BP. For example, at first level, for every three Experience Points you earn, that will...

    Wolfkin

Boy, playing a kin in the summer heat. You must be hardy. I have a bearkin I played one winter weekend, and I still swetted, even with nothing underneath my bear kit except a light t-shirt (to prevent my skin from chafing on the inside of the faux fur). I made an anorak with bear ears on the...

    Anti-LARP?

Where were these contest rules posted -- I must have missed them. Had I only known, it would have been SO easy for me to have built THAT character which could have employed one of each kind of workshop. Now, if you told me that you had a workshop in every one of the lands of Fortannis .... now...

    Making a Bow

That bow looks so much like mine that, yes, I have a suggestion: A loop of cord (I use leather cord) tied together at both ends. Put the loop over the bow from the handle side to that it makes a sling that is attached to the upper limbs of the bow. Throw the bow over your head and one arm and...

    Chianmaile from Coat hangers

Every wire wrap device I have ever seen form making coils to cut for maile links was made with a metal core to wrap around --- now I know the reason why (and not because the wood will more likely break under the tension of torsion).

What about the substantative 14th Amendment claims in McDonald v. Chicago? It's not all about Second Amendment rights. But J. Roberts is not an activist judge, right?

see: http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/09pdf/08-1521.pdf Read Justice Steven's Dissenting. It makes for a very interesting and eye opening read. A little history is great for illuminating those hidden dark places.

    Scars

This is an old old makup trick: rubber cement. Brush it on where you want the scar. Let it dry completely about 1-2 minutes). Press the skin together and it holds. If you need, apply a little light flesh coloration on the scar.

    Chianmaile from Coat hangers

It's welding rod. You blacken it, and keep it clean of rust. It can be work. But it wears well. And it's somewhat heavy.

    Chianmaile from Coat hangers

Back in the early-to-mid 1970's, the folks at the Medieval House at the Univ. of Rochester (NY) who were in SCA would wind welding rod -- it was properly annealed, so it stiffly kept its shape better than any coat hanger would.
