2011 NPC Initiatives!

Greetings Alliance HQ players,

I am pleased to announce the following new policies for NPCing at the HQ chapter!

1. Gobbies for Gas: Players who NPC a full event at HQ will receive Goblin Stamps on a $1.00:3 GS ratio for EVERY PERSON IN YOUR CAR as a thank you for supporting the game. This is in addition to the GS, Teacher Card and Magic Item pick you already receive for NPCing a full event! Gas prices are rising, and we appreciate your going to the time and expense to help everyone involved in the HQ game have fun.

2. Shift-based team NPCing: Teams of PCs of at least 5 people who agree to take a shift NPCing at one of our events (Approx 3 hours) will receive a GUARANTEED module tailored to their team at the next HQ event. Teams wishing to participate would need to let Plot know in advance they wish to take a shift and they will be assigned a time slot to come over and NPC. If your team is heavily invested in a specific ongoing plotline every effort will be made to make sure that your shift does not overlap with an encounter relating to that plotline. Time slots will be assigned at Friday night logistics and the request for a custom module would need to be received no later than 7 days after the event to give us time to write it. (You can also let plot know what you'd like at the end of your shift.)

These new programs are in addition to certain facility projects that should make NPCing easier and more fun overall, but I'll let the Owners blow that trumpet when the time comes.

Once again, thank you to all who NPC our game, and thank you in advance to those who are going to take advantage of these policies.

Edit: Thanks to the generous support of the HQ owners, Gobbies for Gas just got even MORE awesome.

quick question in case it comes up. if people travel together and both are NPCing, do they both get the gobbies or does 1 of them, or do they split it?

BTW, these are awesome ideas!!

Everyone in the car gets the full amount of gobbies. This will also lower HQ's carbon footprint by encouraging carpooling. :shades:

This is awesome.

So - here's one -

If I'm PCing but I'm driving an NPC - who gets the gobbies?

Edit: The NPCs would get the gobbies. The PC driver would get a better event because Plot has more people to play with, letting us run more stuff at the same time. :)

Um, I thought you had to NPC to actually get the gobbies. Did you misread her question Toddo?

IMO, the NPC would get the bonus gobbies, the PC would not.

This is an NPC Incentive program after all.

If I were the PC driver, I'd hit up the NPC for gas money at that point :-)

I agree - I think it's a lot for everyone to get that much. Maybe incent the PCs to bring NPC's by offering enough for a blanket or something. I think with the mileage most folks travel, giving a carload of people like 210 gobbies just for 1 NPC is going to start inflating the system, and might possibly make donations less lucrative ;)

Excellent point, I have edited my answer. :)

These ideas are AMAZING.

Keep up the good work folks!

Haha, Amelia will be blanketed FOREVERRRRRR!

Would this also apply to races? Say for instance the group of unaffiliated roms did this would they also get the mod?

Next, if a n unaffiliated individual were to do this would they get the same consideration? there are not many of us out there but there are some.

Single characters are a bit tougher, but if you tell us what your character is looking for we can prolly toss some love their way.

Correct me if I'm wrong Toddo, but I don't think the word "team" was used to indicate that unless you were on a "team" or barony or whatever you could not participate.

I would think his use of the word "team" was intended to mean that"a specific group of people" would get a mod if that specific group of people took a shift of NPCing.

I assumed that for these purposes team = mod team. I think that Toddo probably thought that Kevin was asking if a bunch of random individuals would each get a mod if they went to NPC... but I could be wrong, I'm not him... so really this post is useless except to say I agree with Steve...

:cold:

I'm willing to be flexible, and if a group of 5 random players comes up to me and wants to participate I will give them some love at the next event. This is not just open to established teams or baronies. I will put in extra time to make ANY group's game cooler if they are willing to put in the modest time I require to make the other players' game cooler. I recognize that HQ is a long drive for a lot of people to make to "just" NPC, that's why the Gobbies for Gas rewards are so crazy cool. People who are willing to give up a little time out of the event to give back but would prefer to PC 90% of the event should still get a real and tangible benefit for their sacrifice.

To my mind, this game is about storytelling. It is no accident that the best reviewed events are the ones with high NPC numbers, the plot team can run more things at the same time and PCs feel that there is always something going on. The more stories we can tell during an event, the more fun every person involved is going to have. To do that I need NPCs. I'm hoping these policies will encourage people to NPC at least part of their weekends, and I'm (clearly) not above bribing people to do so. :)

Again, if individuals wish to jump fence I will work out a reward. Even if I have to recruit 3 new plot people to handle it.
