A Primer on Blanketing for XP

Alliance allows you to spend stamps to get credit as if you attended an event which gains your character XP (aka blanketing an event). There are more uses for stamps than what are discussed in this post since this post is focused on using them to gain XP.

Some concepts:
  • Goblin Stamps (GS) - our currency for rewarding players for helping the local game. Goblin stamps can be earned lots of ways including volunteer labor, providing requested donations of props, working as staff, rewarded for donations of cash, and more. Goblin stamps are chapter specific rewards.
  • Dragon Stamps (DS) - the national currency for rewarding players for helping the entire game. Rewarded in similar ways to goblin stamps but opportunities to earn Dragon Stamps tend to be much rarer. You can convert 1 dragon stamp in to 5 goblin stamps in any chapter; but the reverse conversion is not possible.
  • Blanket - spend Stamps to get credit for having attended an event you did not attend. You can only attend one event at a time. So even if there are two events running during a weekend, you can only get credit for one of them. You can only blanket events within 3 months prior of the current month. To blanket an event in a chapter, you must use goblin stamps from that chapter or dragon stamps.
  • Logistics Period (LP) - generally one day of game. This is the increment XP is awarded in. Most weekend events award 2 LP of XP. 1-day and 3-day events give 1 LP and 3 LP respectively. It cost 30 GS or 6 DS per LP of XP to blanket.
  • Goblin Blanket - a 1 LP blanket that can be purchased once per month with Goblin Stamps. Not an actual event. Limit 12 per year and can not be applied more than 3 months prior to current month.
  • NPC Blanket - a 1 LP blanket that can be awarded once per month per character, for someone who NPCs an entire event. Limit 12 per year per character and can not be applied more than 3 months prior to current month.
  • Dragon Blanket - a 1 LP blanket that can be purchased once per month with Dragon Stamps. Not an actual event. Limit 12 per year and can not be applied more than 3 months prior to current month.
  • Stamps are a reward to a specific player and can not be traded.

On gaining XP:

So how much XP do you get for blanketing an event? Well, the answer depends on your level and how many LP are in an event. There is a chart for level->XP. Each LP of XP is applied one at a time for multiple LP events, which means if you go up after the first LP application, you will use the new XP rate for the rest of the LP for that event.

An example:
Pfeil attends Big West which is a 3 LP event. They had 86 XP at the start of the event making them 8th level. Since they are 8th level, they get 3 XP per LP. The first LP of XP is applied, making their total XP 89 and still 8th level. The next LP of XP is applied, making their total 92 and them now 9th level. For the third LP of XP, since they are now 9th level they get 2 XP bringing their XP total to 94.

On gaining goblin stamps:
Goblin stamps are a chapter specific reward. This means you have a separate goblin stamp total for each chapter. The main page of the CMA will list your goblin stamps for each chapter. To blanket an event in a chapter, you must use goblin stamps from that chapter or dragon stamps.

Generally, in the CMA, each chapter will have published the default rate they reward goblin stamps for cash donations. In addition, there are occasionally fundraisers for specific events that award at better than the default rate and can even award goblin stamps across multiple chapters. Regional events tend to award goblin stamps from multiple chapters to people who volunteer at them.

To get Goblin Stamps for donations, contact the chapter logistics. Contact info is findable in the CMA under the chapter page. Once the donation has been received, the local chapter logistics team will enter the GS in to the CMA. You can purchases event blankets and goblin blankets via the CMA.
