A question on local customs

I didn't see mister Khale in town.....did the Duchess REALLY send him off to the Northlunds?

-Jehyu

So it's true!

Jeyhu,

No, it vould mean Goodman Blacklight chose not to lend his blade to our cause, or vas unable to come this time.

Goodman Wickers,

I vould offer you a friendly dose of wisdom; Against spreading rumors, without proof of course, about her grace, the duchess Fairfax. From vhat I know of her, she is a very kind and generous young lady whose patience vith the likes of the adventurers tempers her away from such rediculous concepts as "doing away" vith trouble makers by sending zhem to the frozen north when she iz displeazed vith them.

Zat said, as we all slowly work return Fairfax to its normal safe state for all to enjoy, her knights might be more and more judicious in discouraging petty barroom talk in public venue.

Let me know if you have any ozer questions, or need any help from zee celestial guild or adventurers at large.

Now I'm not trying to argue for argument's sake, merely ensuring that all is clear so others may not unintentionally insult or disrespect. I was doing some research and I found this passage:

"A commoner in Wayside must kneel to all members of the nobility upon meeting them, with the exception that one need not kneel to a Lord or Lady outside of his/her lands." {[Alliance Chicago Player's Guide, Pg. 12 last paragraph]}

Now I fully understand and do not deny that respect must and should be paid to nobles regardless of origin, I simply ask if one is from another lands if kneeling is required. As I stated before, I fully bow to nobles that I meet (I apologize for the delay at times, still learning to recognize this land's badges of title) to show due respect. Is that not fulfilling the rules of nobility?

PS You say "sent to the Northlunds" like it's a punishment. It really can be quite pleasant.

Draco,

The primary distinction here is for Lords and Ladies, this is a specific rank of landed nobility with very limited duties, generally over a specific holding such as the keeps watch over by Liddia and I. Lords and Ladies with not carry trappings of nobility with them outside of these lands and any show of suspect is accepted as a courtesy, similar to our authority outside of out lands. The majority of nobles that travel, such as knights, or Barons and Dukes at time, do need to be knelt to and will have an appropriate token showing of their rank on them.
