Still, there should be some choice in the matter. Racial limitations could be more along the lines of increased point cost rather than simply saying, "You can't learn this skill, ever."

Like was stated earlier, rmember guys, the draw back are there to add flavor to the races. Yes, while in making it that they can use these things just at a higher cost seems like a kool thing at the time. Now think of it this way, you make it so that they can buy the skill at extra cost, then you get people who buy the skill at extra cost and then its not flavor anymore when over have the race now has that particular skill.

Personaly, I like seeing what people can do with the racial restrictions. As for scavengers being able to put together a packege that best soots them in advantiges and disadvantiges. The mere fact that they can put together their racial skills gives them such an advantige over every other race, sure they might not be able to read and write very well, but come on, when you get to choose two racial that more then makes up for the read and write thing.

I guess there is a realization that I must take upon with all the ideas I have for what could make certain aspects of nero make sense. And that is that it will not be heard. I doubt the rules authors will ever see this thread (that'd be hella funny if they are reading this right now, eh?) let alone take that huge step of changing such a dynamic part of the game's rules.

And so with that, I drop my argument. I'd say it is impossible to please everyone with every aspect of any given topic. But nero does a good overall job, so cudos.

Au Revoir,

One thing to keep in mind is that any changes to the rules is decided on at a large chapter owners meeting. Every chapter has a vote for any change proposed, to get any new rule to pass they need a mojority vote, I forget the actual percentage. This mean that unless it clearly needs to be fixed it probably will not be changed

You know, I don't get where the sarr players are griping here. I mean, yeah, you can't buy a nifty skill... but I can't buy an entire skill set... And Jeff there can't be an entire class (though he can still get the skills if he really wanted to...) and poor mystic wood elves HAVE to spend build on a skill.

It's all about playing what you've chosen. :)

Personally, I think it's sillier that sarrs can't hurl a rock at you...

It is great to see everyone sharing lately!

I think that this kind of debate is good, to a point. Please remember what Cymryc said, these are rules changes that need to be changed by the owners and we at Seattle cannot just change something we do not like.

I know the Sarr restrictions may seem harsh and I think part of the issues there is the Sarr are a popular race to play, but it can be thought of as a challange. The rules were put in place I'm sure for both flavor and game balance and really they are not so bad. Now if some of you out there really want to see a change, then I suggest you write up an alternative way of doing racials. Now it is too late too late to submit it for the next book update, whiich by and large will not contain major changes like this, but when the next revision comes around you could submit it to Shane M. for approval and submission to the owners. It may seem like a lot of work and long wait, but if you feel that passionately about something, it's worth it, yes?

As for MWE's having to spend build on a skill... at least they can stop now at level 5!

So I don't want to stop discussion here, but let's try and make sure we don't start picking sides and trying to convince others to share the same opinion. It's okay to disagree, but I really would prefer to not see a flame war (not that I think that is going on, just trying to head trouble off at the pass! -It's good to be paranoid.)
