Alliance San Francisco PC Leadership Policy

Players in positions of in-game leadership, authority, and power have a greater than average ability to impact the experiences of their fellow players. As such, players who achieve certain levels of in-game authority will be asked to agree to the following.

This policy is designed to set our OOG expectations for the players of IG leaders, and to provide guidelines for them to help improve our game and community. However, please note that all players regardless of IG status are expected to follow our Code of Conduct – this document is a supplement for those who have chosen to take on a more prominent role.

  1. Titles and other recognized leadership roles, while often player originated, are ultimately awarded under the authority of the Plot team(s). Recognition of titles and roles from previous campaigns or from other chapters is also at their discretion.
  2. As a PC leader, you are a more prominent representative of our organization than is the average PC. As such, you are expected to abide by all national and local rules and policies, including game rules as well as policies governing standards of behavior. Repeated and/or serious failures to do so may result in removal of IG titles or authority.
  3. Acknowledge that, as a leader, you have more room to influence the game experience of your fellow players. We expect you to use this power to improve the overall game experience for others, not detract from it.
    • Please note that this is an out of game requirement, not an in–game one. Not every character in a leadership role need be personable, generous, or even moral. However, as a player you should always be inclusive and endeavor to lift up your fellow players, even if this means you need to find clever workarounds to accomplish this in-character. At a minimum, you are expected to not be a negative influence on your fellow players’ good time.
    • We also ask that you take special care when engaging in CVC or other hostile or antagonistic actions. While you are by no means prohibited from taking actions against other characters, bear in mind that the experience of character conflict from a PC Leader may have a more substantial effect on the enjoyment of new, lower level, or untitled players/characters. Please make sure to make good use of our check-in and consent tools in this instance especially.
  4. As an IG authority figure, you are likely to find yourself the recipient of information, items, plot hooks, etc. We expect you to use these thoughtfully and responsibly. While you are not expected to act under the control of Plot, nor to act without any consideration for your own enjoyment as a player, we do expect you to recognize that your character may be a conduit for other players’ engagement with the game and act accordingly.
  5. Refusal to agree to and/or abide by this policy may result in removal of IG titles or authority.

This policy applies to the following roles. However, it is not limited to these titles, and more may be added at any time. Players who have not yet achieved one of these titles, but are on the path towards them (eg, Squires) are encouraged to follow this agreement as well.
  • Chivalric titles of Knight and above, or equivalent
  • Noble titles of Lord/Lady and above, or equivalent
  • Guild or other faction leaders, as determined by Plot
  • Any other role or title which places your character in a position of legal or functional authority over one or more other characters
Leaders of player factions or other roles that do not come with plot-enforced and –recognized status and authority do not fall under this agreement. However, we do encourage these leaders, as we do all players, to follow the basic principles of this agreement.

Players whose characters fall under this agreement will be asked to sign off on it at the next game they attend.
