Connie Castermaster has herself an Earth battlemagic circle, casting a ritual onto Leon Lemmingface's spirit. It suddenly occurs to her that, last month, Leon robbed her sister. Connie takes offense, and after starting the ritual, Connie Spirit Recalls, much to Leon's dismay. There are two people in the Earth Circle Connie pops into.

backlash rolled - Everyone in the circle is turned into a zombie per Create Undead.
Question 1. If Connie is holding the scroll when she recalls, does the backlash happen where she arrives, or where the rit originates.
Question 2. If she is not, does this change the location of the backlash?
Question 3. Does -attempting- to Recall start the auto backlash, or only it's completion?
Question 4. If the ritual occurs at the original circle, does Connie effectively dodge the backlash?

Per the Spirit Recall scroll:

"No possessions may travel with the spirit except spirit linked or spirit locked items and basic clothing" and "The player then leaves all possessions at the point they activated the ritual. "

Question 2. If she is not, does this change the location of the backlash?

Ultimately what happens for rituals is up to the Marshal overseeing the ritual. But based on the answer to your first question (stuff doesn't go with the caster), I'd say stuff happens in the circle where the ritual was started.

Question 3. Does -attempting- to Recall start the auto backlash, or only it's completion?

Only its completion; Spirit Recall is an OOG verbal and requires no in-game action or skill to activate, and you can enter/leave a circle during a ritual using Spirit Recall as a valid means of transport.

Question 4. If the ritual occurs at the original circle, does Connie effectively dodge the backlash?

Depends on the rolled backlash, imo. If there is one that says it affects the caster specifically, and the Marshal chooses or rolls that one, I'd say it hits Connie. Otherwise, I'd say Connie isn't affected unless the circle she recalls back to is in line of sight of the first one, within the radius of any effects, or other specific criteria that she could meet after completing the Spirit Recall.

Given your specific example, everyone in the circle where the ritual was cast would be turned into a zombie, and Connie would slip under that Backlash's radar, her normal Gypsy self.... :ninja:

Unless the people in the circle are dead at the time of the backlash Create undead wouldn't effect them. Silly backlash.
