Buying Back Deaths?

How does this work? Do you spend gobbies on it or what?
 
Yes you do it with gobbies only in the home chapter for that character. You cannot buy any back until you hit 3, and then you can never buy it below 2 (so the next time you die you will always be pulling from the bag). Each death costs progressively more, I don't remember if it's by multiples or exponentially. Also, almost positive you cannot buy back deaths you earn while under the effects of a Regenerate ritual.
 
You can see the rules on this in the book on Page 165-166 (bottom right, top left). The price starts at 40 and doubles each time (40, 80, 160, etc). Any deaths suffered while under a Regenerate, Controlled Spirit Store, or similar magic may never be bought back, even if the ritual is no longer on your character.
