Calling Out The School of the Mandrake!

Listen up you cowards of the Mandrake! First you embarrass my students, then assault them, then you even murder my top student Angelica during a peaceful escort job. You lot have no shame. The School of the Basilisk will take this no more. My school teaches 3 words: Power, Pressure, Paralysis. We didn't want to pick a fight with you, but it's obvious your school needs to be put down.

So, in one month and a week from now I am issuing a formal challenge to Ignathis Nachtfeuer, Renshi of the School of the Mandrake. You and your best 2 students, vs. Me and my prized 2 students.

Any weapon, no shields. Rules are simple. 1 on 1. First to land a hit 3 times against your opponent wins. Reset after each hit. Lets see how well you trained them, then let's see how well you can fare against a real master. Losing School closes, forever.

Accept and we do this honorably. Reject and we'll just off your students like you did one of ours.

Let me first be clear, I accept your challenge, will meet you upon the sparring field and prove the honor that I and my students have. Let us set a time and place and be done with this squabble. However let me clear the air on all of the accusations you have levelled at me and mine. Your novice students came for me, while I was dressing for a formal event and challenged me to a fight. They out numbered me and my apprentice 2 to 1, yet we fought and came out ahead. And as for Angelica, she was not part of a "peaceful escort" but rather a member of an illegal dragon poaching ring. I confronted her during a sting operation trying to take down these poachers and she challenged me. I accepted. After the fight had begun others interfered and she continued to fight me. This is the root of dishonor. And so I treated her not as a fellow duelist but as an enemy combatant from there on. If her spirit has not returned, I will be willing to find someone to cast a spirit farewell for you and her family. This I swear no matter the result of this duel. Do not let my demeanor be lost in these words, I am prepared for you, your school has consistently showed dishonor and ineptitude. Be prepared for the hardest fight of your life.

Under the traditional code duello the participants may declare honor satisfied with a apology given. Typically this should be arranged by the seconds.

Briefly summarized the 25 rules or traditions cover the rights of the challenger and challenged on such subjects as weapons, time and place, what may be considered a honorable or legal dual, apologies, choosing seconds etc. The overwhelming majority of wich are either moot or already spoken for in this particular case. Note there is significant variation from mistsphere to mistsphere and I lack any significant authority in this matter, I merely answer questions.

Sable, in this case I have been challeged to a single strike. In this case is blood rarely shed, nor is any killing blow allowed. If as a spectator you see either party attempt to killing blow the other, you are able to step in and stop said blow. Otherwise interference is not welcomed.

Typically the seconds would step in. It is the role of seconds afterall, though if the rules of the dual were broken it would nolonger have the sanction and whatever happened afterwards would be a legal matter.

To wich I can only say present the evidence of this to the party's involved. Such is why seconds should be chosen.

I can assure you all other “schools” have been wiped out. This is now just between the Mandrake and the Basilisk.

Illness may have prevented our paths from crossing last Fall but that excuss won't work twice! Same terms. 3 bells on Saturday just before my 5th cup of coffee. This will finally be the end of the School of the Mandrake.
