Character Transfer from NERO International

Good afternoon,

I was poking around for a game in NH, that peaked my interest for LARPs, without me having to drive all over and pay 90.00 per event. This seemed like a good option, but I wanted to check something.

First question:

Can characters be transferred from NERO international into Alliance in some fashion? Obviously full build would be awesome, but I am not really expecting that but it would be nice to not start fresh. I know this used to be done, but not sure of the way it works now. I actually transfered my character in to play once in NY, but have no idea if that got entered into some national Data base or simply theirs.

Second question:

Assuming this is not possible, how hard is the game to break into as a new character? Please be as honest as you can here, I know it is never super easy but if it is impossible, that would be nice to know in advance.

Thanks in advance for the information.

Hi Kevin, Welcome to the Alliance Deadlands Chapter! I am the new player contact and customer service for Deadlands. I will check with our owner and see if I can get you an answer about transferring. I think it may be possible, but need to confirm that. As far as getting a new character into the game, I think it is pretty easy, depending on how involved you get. If for some reason you are not able to transfer, I would recommend NPCing for us for a couple events. You get percs for your character in advance, and are able to develop a character pretty quickly. We are always looking for NPC's and try to make it worth their while. In the future, please feel free to contact me at deadlandsagm@gmail.com with any further questiosn. I will get a message to you as soon as I can get a decision/answer from Gary, our owner. THanks again, and hope to see you sson at Deadlands.

Thanks very much for getting back to me, I appreciate it. I will keep an eye out for a message.

Seems like this year I will not get to any events, but if I get all the logistics out of the way then I can be completely ready for next year!

Thanks again!

Kevin

If your character was entered into an Alliance database and the chapter closed, the database should have been transferred to either the Alliance General Manager or the Logistics Committee.

Transfers from post-split between International and Alliance aren't allowed though :( I have a friend out west who has a decent size character in International but didn't have anything pre-split and had to start fresh. He was a little bummed, but he's having fun rebuilding the character bit by bit in a slightly different system.

Hello,

Phedre is correct. We use to accept International characters up to tenth level, but we changed the policy a few years ago. However, if you have never played the Alliance before, NH does grant enough gobilin stamps for you to back blanket xp three months back, so you don't have to come in at first level.

We have players who have been coming regularly for 8 years who are just touching 20th, players who have been rocking out the same character at multiple chapters and are hitting 20th in two years, and everything in between.

1st through 5th level is a little tough, but the players here are great about helping one another out, and we always make sure to hook people up with personal plot if they send in plot submissions.

In this chapter after 10th level you're golden. You got all the basic skills/spells, your damage swings are decent, and you can hold your own in a wave battle or mod.

If you're not playing till next year then I highly recommend emailing deadlandslog@gmail.com, give us your name, address, etc., and maybe donate some packets or something to get you started. It's wicked easy to shoot through the levels in the beginning with a very modest amount of donations and time.

Hope to see you in May,
Gary

Gary,

I played an Alliance chapter near Rochester NY most recently, but I also played at Alliance NH before you guys changed it to Deadlands (grated quite a while ago)...Starting at 10, would be a huge plus for me, is there a way for me to check if they have a character for me in your old Dbase or maybe the national one?

Either way, I will touch base with the logistics people and see what I can do to donate some packets and or props etc...To see where I can get to in the meantime.

Is the limit one goblin blanket per month or if not, what is the limit?

I would love to NPC anything you have this year and then PC next year (heck maybe even continue to NPC if I like it) I just thought that there were no more events this year. If I am wrong on that let me know for sure!

Thanks for getting back to me, I appreciate it!

Kevin

Kevin, there are no more events this year for Deadlands. Your character should be retrievable from the national database; like Gary said, deadlandslog at gmail dot com is the place to get that process started. The sooner you check the better, because the process can take some time, especially if you're not sure what chapter your character was housed in.

You can buy one blanket per month with goblin stamps and also use them to receive credit for missed events, although I am not at all sure you can do so for events that occurred when you had no active character. Again, deadlandslog will be the place to investigate.

Once you have your character sorted out logistically, you can send a draft of your character's history to deadlandscharplot at gmail dot com in order to get that ball rolling with our character plot team. If you have any questions about the game world, especially changes to the continent since you last played (there are a lot of changes), feel free to ask them publicly here on the board or to me personally at deadlandsovermind at gmail dot com; either way, I'll be happy to answer them.

Welcome back.

Dan,

Thank you very much for all the information, it is appreciated. I think I have sent three emails of differing subjects to the deadlandslog email, so I apologize in advance for whoever has to field those. I did find the chapter name and owner information and included it in an email to log, so hopefully that will make the search a little less painful for whoever does it.

I would not expect to be able to blanket for five to seven years worth of blankets or whatever, if I got the character I would just start from present and do some donations to have some blankets. But, that will have to been seen depending on the ability of someone to find it for me.

I would love to know the differences, especially in the "After we broke apart from international" perspective, this is what happen and this is what things look like now. I will poke around on the national boards and site to look for some of it, but anything you have for me in terms of links or documents, I would love to read.

Thanks again for all the help and being so welcoming, I am not really looking forward to neat year!!

Kevin

You can buy a pdf version of the up to date current rulebook on Amazon I believe, the link is somewhere on the boards. It is version 1.1 and its like $5.

Not sure what the biggest differences from international will be but its a decent read. :)

as of now with them putting out their 9th edition...there is a lot of differences...

In terms of differences, I meant more world or cosmology differences.

Such as, are the elements the same? Kingdom information? are all chapters within the same kingdom or is there no real standard set there.

That kind of thing, I prefer old NERO rules anyway, so I am happy with what the rules are likely to be =)

Kev

cosmology can be very different chapter to chapter.

All chapters are in the same 'universe' but on continents separated by 'the mists' that generally only adventurers can travel. (or storyline bbg's)
