There are indeed many cool animals. I've considerd rat, skunk, spider, mantis and even
Red Panda. Almost more important than the coolness of the animal is the character angle you'll need to create. Scavengers are a roleplayers dream. You can get alot from real-world descriptions of the animal but the trick is to translate that into an awesome character. With too little inspiration you can wind up playing what might be better off as a one-shot NPC.
I really feel I found a great angle with Gyps and his people, the Life-keepers. Translating the vulture association with death into a culture that has the utmost concern for the precious nature of life ws one of those "Yeah, this it it!" moments for me.
BTW Whenever HQ has another low-level event, that's when I'll be breaking out my Playtpus. Anyone who wants to go all out with Aboriginal costuming* and prosthetics (for realism) AND can do a passable Aussie** accent is welcome to join me. Any dingoes, kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, wombats, emus. bandicoots, tasmanian devils, frillnecked lizards, quolls, pademelons, bettongs, etc out there just waiting to come out and play?
*PM me if you want info on this
** If it sounds Cockney it's a no-go. New Zealand acccent is close enough to count though. Watch all the extras on the LOTR dvd's to practice that one. Peter Jackson and those WETA guys are Kiwis through and through!
