So, I'm hobbling together my first costume and I was struck with the realization that we are sort of a specialized market, aren't we?
I figured we could start a thread for local businesses to support and any online gems we run across. Because making us look good, makes us look good.
For Costuming, locally, we have Gott-a-Costume who is apparently giving us a discount if we mention Alliance Larp. 10%?
So far, used items for craft cutting on Ebay have been very useful for fur and leather type stuff but the shipping costs can be brutal.
For footwear, Viking Leathercrafts seems decently priced for the initial investment. It seems like they sell to a lot of Larp players, because they offer two different, affordable non-slip sole options for all of their leather boots and shoes.
The Denver Opera House has a prop sale every other year or so and you can pick up some beautiful, professionally put together textiles for remarkably cheap. This year's sale is over, but I'll post a reminder for next year in case anyone wants to investigate for themselves.
Has anyone else found something worth sharing? If anyone finds an affordable place for beads, feathers, costume jewelry ect, I'll buy you a drink at the tavern.
