Critical Attack -> weapon proficiency trade in

So this might be a stupid question, but when you trade in 4 critical attacks for a weapon proficiency, the critical attacks go away and the points that you spent on them too, and you get a weapon proficiency?

So a weapon proficiency as a fighter could be said to cost 15 points,
3 bp critical attack x 4
+ 3 bp weapon proficiency
= 15 points for a weapon proficiency.
Right? The points just go away when you trade them in and you can't use the points for anything else because they're in the weapon proficiency? Same with back attack/backstab on a rouge?

Note that even though Critical Attack has been traded in, you don't have to be re-taught the skill.
