In the 2.1 beta packet, they have taken daily stealth skills such as Sleep/Paralysis strike and took away the melee qualifier. It still states From Behind. I am curious if it has been discussed whether or not to word these more like assassinate, "This skill enables the character to do one powerful attack of damage From Behind to one opponent once per day for each time the skill is bought. If used with a ranged weapon, the Assassinate may be used from any direction." or was it specifically left out to keep even archery as attacking from behind?
And just to verify, slow/weakness blow was left off that list because it is also known as "tendon blow" and it should only be made as a melee attack?
 
Any time you see "From Behind" you can read it as "From Behind or with a Ranged Weapon" unless it specifies a melee weapon. That specific special line in the assassinate description is redundant and has been causing confusion for years because it implies this is something special about assassinate -- which it isn't.
 
All of the stealth skills that had some additional provision beyond “From behind” have been changed to only be “From behind” and all are usable with ranged weapons without a positioning requirement.

Instead of including this change/clarification in all the individual skills, it was included on page 9 (first column, last paragraph).
 
As a compromise between giving this kind of useful detail just once, or doing it in each and every skill, would it be possible to do something like a footnote? So the skill could read "[text] from behind** [text]" and then the footnote would say "** or with a ranged weapon. See page X."

This would be really useful for many aspects in the Rulebook: Storm spells, etc.
 
It would be ideal to get all the information about how to use a skill in the place you are likely to reference the skill, rather than relying on people to have read and remembered all the other parts of ther rulebook.
 
Honestly, it feels like something that should be part of the archery & thrown skill descriptions as well.
