Deadman's Switch

Pendrag

Newbie
Deadman's Switch is listed as the below.

Deadman’s Switch
This ability allows a character to Focus for 1
minute and consume one disarmed weapon,
mechanical, or explosive trap. After the focus
is completed the next character to perform a
Killing Blow on them will be targeted with an
attack of “<Number> Vengeance” with the
number doing damage equal to the amount of
damage the trap would have done. This ability
may only be purchased once and will not
persist through resurrection. and The trap tag
must be carried while the effect is present.

a few Questions,

1. When it says it Consumes 1 disarmed trap, dose this mean that once it is triggered the trap is destroyed and can not be recovered if normally it would be? for instance once sprung a weapons trap dose not automatically destroy itself, but in the case of it being used in a Deadman's switch it would.
2. I am pretty sure this is the case but just wanted to confirm, traps which typically have an area of effect do not pass that area of affect onto a Deadman's switch. example a Deadman's switch utilizing an explosive trap would not hit anyone else in a game area or casue a shatter affect in that area like it would if it was triggered normally, but instead only causes a X Vengeance call against the specific person dealing the killing blow. Alternative example would a weapons trap utilizing a silvered weapon apply its silver affect to the Vengeance damage being called?
3. This one is a bit brauder of a rules questions since it applies to multiple other crafting ability descriptions as well. What is the Duration of Deadman's Switch? there seems to be a bit of an inconsistency across Crafting abilities where some of them call out explicitly in the text that an effect of the ability only lasts for 10 minutes or until the end of the LP. dose this mean abilities without these specific Deadlines act indefinitely? if i Activate a Deadman's Switch the morning of an event and it is never triggered will it continue on to the next LP, or the Next event even? or dose it have a limited duration? a similar questions would be on something like the Auto Injector?

Any trap used to fuel Deadman's Switch is consumed/expended/used as soon as the Focus is completed. It is not recoverable.

Deadman's switch affects a single target administering a killing blow against the character with that ability. There is no radius involved.
The verbal for Deadman's switch is always "<Number> Vengeance" with <number> being the damage value on the trap tag.

Deadman's switch lasts until used, until the character resurrects, or the LP ends.

The first paragraph of page 30 of the 2.1 Beta packet discusses the durations of crafting abilities and should be the guideline that gets followed if there is no specific information present in the ability description itself.
