My school has asked me to do a sword demo (boffing swords) on June 2nd, I thought it would be a great oportunity for nero to get some advertising in. anyone want to come and hit people with swords?

Swords, pfagh. You need Gurv there. Admit it. Too bad he's a bit far away :)

Wish i lived close i'd go, need to watch how it's done a bit anyway. By the way, if anyone gets there early to the event feel free to find me and give me a few lessons on combat so i don't go in full throttle newbie please.

What sort of weapon are you using? Hand and a half, or two-hander?
If I can make the event (got a few questions pending) I can give the bare basics on Kendo...the skills translate amazingly well, with some slight modification...

Excellent, i took kendo for oh, 11 years or so so it should be pretty basic, though no wrist or head shots of course...and no hot sweaty jacket and hood.

NERO folks who show up in costume or go and promote NERO will get goblin stamps. I will see about making a flyer available if people would be willing to distribute them.

time...

the demo will start at 11 am, and probably go untill 2 or 3.

its at North Seattle Community college just off of I-5.
It will be in the middle court yard. ask for fern, look for someone in a cloak.

REAlly? :D

Kendo for that long, eh? Nice to meet another long-timer in the art :-). Then you don't need anything I can show you...just modify your target zones and you're in good shape. No wrists/hands, head, groin, and NO THROAT-SHOTS..otherwise, have at, and have fun!

(ps...also no feet/ankle shots...folks don't like those so much.)

Always nice to meet a fellow Kenshi! 11 years is quite a few on me. We should bring our bogu and shinais some time and show up early to some event. You can kick my *** in the tavern before it gets crowded.

BTW, what dojo, and what rank? For me, it's UW, and 4th kyu.

Just like me to get sidetracked...

Yes, fern, I am interested in attending this. Any suggestions on how to get there by bus, or should I look it up online?

I have attained second dan. Have not practiced in some time(two years or so). Studied mostly in Japan(osaka). Now i've been doing charbarra, i think that's how it's spelled. It's full contact with padded weapons from actionflex.com. You should check it out, it's a blast.
