"Very well Diravera" then leaning her head from side to side shows her neck, with no marks to be seen. "Now, since you make a good point that vampires have ways of altering memory, perhaps you would be so kind as to show me yours as well so that we can be certain that you are alright. Be sure to have all the guards, both mine and the home guard, checked as well. And as for the gypsy, no, do not send for her. I will let Az'Caine handle the returning of my brother as he is probably best suited to do so. I know a couple ways to get information on the rescue mission so that I will know what is being planned."

A maid approaches bringing tea and scones on a silver platter, which puts down on a side table next to the couch. Picking up the pot of tea she looks to Her Grace and says in a small voice "Do you wish me to pour Your Grace?" At the nod of Victoria's head she pours two cups and hands one to each of the ladies on the couch before quietly stepping out of the room.

"I am getting quite tired of these Vampires roaming about the Palace." Victoria mutters to herself as she sips her tea.

Diravera brushed her hair aside and showed their Grace her neck, free from marks.

"Your Grace, I will check the necks of a few guardsmen, instruct them to check each other, then return here. If that is what Your Grace wishes."

"Yes, that is what I wish. See it done. Now, I do believe I shall retire back to bed for a few more hours of sleep before tomorrow's meetings. Thank you Diravera."

Victoria moves away from the fire place and heads to her bedroom, leaving her vizier to see to the guards.

Rushing her pace, she quickly checked the necks of the guards at door. Then passed the instructions along, "Check the necks of all the guards. Any found to have marks are to be locked in a sealed room until morning, then escorted to the Earth Weaver's guild come morning."

Completing her task, she returned to keep watch over their Grace through to morning.

Victoria paces in front of the large bay windows in front of her solarium. Her brother has returned, but he is in no condition to be King. What did those foul creatures do to him? Will he ever be fit to rule again? Every Arcane Sanctum member and Earth Weaver, when not attending to their regular duties have been searching high and low for any book or scroll or anything that can potentially contain a cure for Ulric. Even her own personal libraries have been searched. But her sources tell her so far that nothing has been found which could help. "I'm not even allowed to see him, my own brother" she mutters and picking up an object off the table nearest her she throws it against the wall in frustration, shattering it into pieces. "Well, there is nothing to be done but return to work, there are things that I must get done."

Glancing at the ever present and loyal Chip, she says "Get me Johan and a couple messengers, and have someone send up some tea". Walking to her desk she sits down and begins writing out the messages that she needs sent. The messengers and the tea arrive just as she is finishing writing. She seals several official messages and hands them to the messengers and dismisses them; they bow and leave, rushing past Johan at the doorway as he is entering. Pouring a cup of tea while he approaches, she picks up two final notes, plain with no distinguishing marks, off her desk and hands them to him. "Get these to their intended recipients. Use your usual, undetectable methods, no direct connection back to the palace or to me." Johan nods, bows to her and without saying a word, leaves the room his footsteps silent but quick, she watches him as he enters the hallway, sticking to the walls and the shadows. Leaning back in her chair she sips her tea and begins thinking about all there is to do.

Victoria is supervising the clean up of her rooms after the tremor that shook the palace knocked nearly everything down. Servants are busily cleaning up broken glass, wood pieces and spills of ink. An Earthweaver had arrived shortly ago to treat the wounds some of her staff had suffered, although a few of her guards and staff can only be helped at the circle since they were killed during the incident.

As she directs her staff, a page approaches and waits to be acknowledged. At the nod of her head he reports "It was an explosion in the King's chamber, apparently a ritual backlashed although the Arch Mage as able to get a circle of power around himself and the King protecting them from the worst of it. The King is currently being loaded into a cart by the Fatespinner and the Gypsy seer, apparently to be taken to the Arcane Sanctum at the order of the Arch Mage. They are trying to remove some magic item that has been found on the King's person" Having delivered his report he awaits further instructions.

"You may go" Victoria dismisses him. Turning back to watch the progress being made in clean up she wonders again just what all has been done to her brother.

Setting down the report in her hand, Victoria smiles. "It seems that the adventurers of Parson's Breach did well at the Festival games this year. I wonder if any of them will be passing through the city on their way back to the Breach." she says softly to herself.

Pulling a piece of parchment in front of her and picking up her quill, she begins to write the first of several notes to be sent. After signing and sealing the last note, she sets them aside to be delivered later, then she turns next to another pile of correspondence and business that needs to be attended to today, seeing to the needs of the city.

"Hmmm, that is not quite right yet, try that darker one instead" Victoria states to the seamstress and points to another bolt of cloth amidst the pile of fabrics in the room. While the seamstress bustles about getting the new fabric ready to try against her outfit for the upcoming masquerade that her brother Ulric is hosting in a few days time, Victoria returns to the pile of letters and requests from various districts of the dutchy and realm that require her attention. She works through each missive, one at a time, penning responses where necessary or issuing orders to the group of clerks standing by to have tasks assigned. Looking up from her work at the sound of the seamstresses voice she eyes the latest change briefly and says "still not quite what I am looking for. Keep trying please". Victoria sighs and requests some tea be brought, hopefully she can get through all these requests before her dinner meeting later.

Mobeus arrives to the castle shortly after giving the orders that the members of Parson's would not pursue the Duke. He quickly and quietly makes his way up to the Dutchess' quarters where she was brought, he looks to the door of her chambers and sighs slightly, "I am relieved she is safe." noting the large increase in guards, Mobeus places his hand gingerly into his carrying satchel and withdraws a very ordinary looking book. From the pages of the book he draws forth a pressed lily of white, he places it gently into an envelope, seals it with his house seal, and places it gently under her door as to not to disturb her well deserved rest. Bowing gently at the waist to the guards he makes his way off again.

Sipping her tea, Victoria relaxes slightly at her desk; the piles of paper on her desk have finally returned to the normal levels. She has spent these past many days dealing with the numerous business matters that had gone unattended during her absence. The Earth Weavers tending to her after her return had done good work, physically she had felt more like herself within a couple days of her return. Now she is just tired, which is due as much to the long hours she is putting in to catch up as to the lack of sleep caused by the recent nightmares. “They will pass” she thinks to herself.

Lingering memories of her capture and the source of her nightmares tease at her brain, and her eyes drift to a small box on her desk. Opening it she takes out a delicate, pressed white lily and a small smile brightens her features. She allows herself a moment to recall and relive the day of her rescue….feeling the pain, the worry about her rescuers as they barely survived and the relief of being safe home again. Her mind runs through the long and fierce battle that had been waged, so many vampires and nothing seemed to hurt them…but in the end good prevailed and she was taken home.

Setting the lily down in front of her, she brings a fresh piece of paper in front of her and begins writing a letter that is long overdue. Finishing the letter and sealing it, she picks up the lily once more and gently places it back inside the wooden box with her other treasured items.

Pressing her seal into the last glob of warm wax before her, Victoria smiles slightly and motions to the messenger waiting. Handing him the small stack of sealed letters she says to him "See that these are delivered with all due haste." As the messenger departs with a deep bow, she turns to the next stack of documents needing her attention.

Arriving at her rooms in the Palace after being away for a few days at the Festival, Victoria calls for a pot of tea to be brought. While waiting for the tea, she avoids her desk and the pile of work there for a few more moments, sitting in front of the fire and reminiscing on the Festival of Crows events and its outcome. All the teams performed very well, it was perhaps one of the best Festivals she has witnessed in many years. Her team performed admirably and she is still feeling the afterglow and pride in their overall and individual victories.
