Gee-Perwin said:Like I said months ago, I feel bad for any one who voted for Obama thinking he was a peace candidate. He's just another war monger.
Fearless Leader said:The reason he is getting a lot of criticism is that the situation has changed since he became President -- we know now that Afghanistan is a country full of corruption that probably will do nothing to help us.
Gee-Perwin said:I would have stop paying my taxes back then and lived my life as a free person, consequences be damned. I can't do that right now because of my family obligations, but that will likely change when my children are old enough to care for themselves. I find the actions of the government morally reprehensible and I want no part in their schemes. They stopped playing by the peoples' rules long ago, so there really is no point in me playing by their rules (Natural Law makes more sense anyway).
Duke Frost said:“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the Public Treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits from the Public Treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy always followed by dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been two-hundred years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to abundance; from abundance to complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependence; from dependence back again into bondage.”
—Alexander Fraser Tyler, 1700
Duke Frost said:I think we just moved from complacency to apathy. Dependence is next. Luckily, I should be dead by the time we hit bondage again.

Fearless Leader said:Except, of course, he never said that. Some blogger did some years ago and everyone says it was Franklin.
Well, you guys go and complain and whine about the system and go to your tea parties and so on. We'll see if anything changes. Me? I'll continue to work within the system to change it, by challenging laws I disagree with through the courts, voting every single election, working on and contributing to campaigns, and discussing politics with anyone willing to debate.

Yeah, that's working out so well. Keep on keeping on.

This is the way our government has always worked since it began
