First Caster Question

Man, character just over a year old can afford a 30 point AA? Clearly, you need to be mugged more often. ;)

He could have:

1. Found it as treasure on a module or on a monster in a battle.
2. Been given it.
3. Gobbied it.

He may still need a mugging... but not because he's got stupid coin.

I already have a 30 suit of AA, so i'm going to buy the wear extra armor to really make myself a good substitute for the line.

though i'm going to need a preserve by the end of next year
Assuming you're a templar, the levels you dump into formal will allow you to wear more armor as long as it's arcane.

I like the extra body to push yourself up to 30 (arguably 31) body so you can soak a mort, past that, it's less useful as a couple extra points won't let you stand that much more generally if 60 from armor/health is gone. As a templar, I could see popping for the earth aura if you see undead with any frequency at all in your chapter. Magic purifys are great for the front line, and it won't hurt to be able to buy a cloak or two when your pyramid gets that high.

As to Rebirth, thats up to you, on a strong team it's less useful, on my Barrister, who is a unqualified coward, it let's me play a bit braver as long as his rebirth is up so he can continue to claim to be a non-combatant ^.^.

JP has a solid point about AA benefiting from ranks of formal as if they were Wear Extra Armor. It's essentially saving you five build for as long as you have the Arcane.

As for other stuff, it really depends on if you plan on playing as combat ready medic or fighter with some tricks. Magic Purify, as mentioned, is awesome. Covering your self via a cloak is a solid option, but you wouldn't be able to lair them deeply if you're only going to have a minimum of 9ths. I'd value Earth's Bounty hire than some others here. The ability to survive a double tap cause mort (via spell shield and actually having enough body) is pretty helpful, and E's Bounty can get you there. Once you have 31 or more body natively, it doesn't hurt to have some spell crafting available. It can bring in coin, and if you have an Extend Battle Magic scroll, a stick and a spellcraft can give you a long lasting Earth Blade for 1 HMP instead of five. Just don't get dispelled.

i donated a monster camp. it really is cool the first event after i donated it, because i saw 20 or so NPCs all wielding weapons i had built. I still want to donate more so that all NPCs can use are my creations muahahahaha

I guess i could NPC until I have enough build to get the formals to save the build, but at the moment i hadn't even thought of that

I know, I was attempting humor.

But I still hate seeing 30 point AA on the goblin stamp list.

I don't think i'm ready to be mugged...

I was mugged by NPCs and that's fine, but i don't think i could deal too well by being mugged by PCs... and that's my own shortcoming

I've noticed Alliance is very similar to most role-playing games in that power is derived from specialization. The more spread out your skills are, the weaker overall the character is, and conversely, the more focused to one skill, the more powerful (at least in that skill). This is why a team of specialists is the most effective means to play Alliance, and is the general intent of how the game is designed.

So that said, if you want to specialize as a pyramid-based battle caster, go for it. There are players, as Davion pointed out, that will specialize in formal magics and can take care of you on that end, as well as fighters to protect you and all the other roles in between.

As for the local (SoMN) In-Game stuff Davion posted, just contact my character through in-game means and we'll see what happens from there.

yeah man. i know. first i have to actually have that character. and that requires living in minnesota for longer than I will most likely be there
