Hello there,
I just received the following information from the LARP Alliance/Realms of Conflict about a flash mob happening in NYC on October 5th. It is a Flash Mob style event however LARPers are needed to create it. It is to celebrate both the upcoming Hobbit movie as well as Comicon's launch. Note that like most Flash Mobs, this requires some degree of secrecy. Granted, posting on these boards may not be the best 'secret' thing around but hopefully the people here understand it.

Most Excellent Lords of Realms of Conflict,
We would like to invite you to join us this Wednesday October 5th at 3:30pm for the most epic 60 second LARP battle of all time. In honor of Comiccon and the up-coming Hobbit movie, we thought this would be an awesome way to kick things off as we know comiccon starts the week after. This momentous LARP battle will be in front of the Colbert Studio.
We would be absolutely thrilled if you could join us in this momentous occasion. It is promised to be the likes of which you have never seen. Check out this link for instructions. Sign up for your team at this link. More detailed instructions are attached.

LARP instructions/invitation to the masses:
It’s time to unite Hobbit Fans. We have decided, in honor of the up-coming Hobbit movie, and to kick off comiccon next week, we are going to stage a 1 minute LARP, a live action role play, in front of the Colbert Studio Wednesday the 5th of October at 3:30pm. For something so epic one short minute can hardly contain it, but we are going to make it happen and New Yorkers won’t know what hit them. Fans, this is your time to shine, this is your time to become stories of legend. Help the hobbits unite middle earth! We cannot do this alone!
You will need to choose which team (red or blue) you are on by signing up on this google document: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... c&hl=en_US (Please note that this is a public document so do not put any personal information on it. Come dressed in your finest Middle Earth attire with a shield with the face of a politician on it. When you make your shields, be sure that blue team members choose right wing politicians and red team chooses left wing. The point of this is to flip this whole thing on its head, to show that what happens in congress is sometimes just silly.
Be sure to mark yourself with a color in some way to indicate what team you are on so that you’re not killed by your own team. (That wouldn’t be good.) Also make sure to bring your electronic devices and take pictures and videos and send them afterwards to roadtotheshire@gmail.com.
Red Team: Meet on the corner of 11th and 54th street in front of Clinton Towers (790 West 54th Street ). Be wearing red so that your team can identify you. Bring all manner of fake weapons, cardboard cutout swords, foam sticks, homemade numb chucks, etc. Promptly at 3:35pm begin walking toward the center of 54th street where Colbert Studio resides. At the 3:40pm the appointed group leader will yell a call to action (To Isengard!) and the battle will commence. If you are hit in the arm, your arm is no longer operational, if you get hit in the heart, you can no longer count yourself among the living. Sixty seconds later, at 3:41pm, the battle will end and all minions will disperse to the four winds.
Blue Team: Meet on the corner of 10th Avenue and 54th street in front of the “United We Stand Deli”(491 West 53th Street). Be wearing blue so that your team can identify you. Bring all manner of fake weapons, cardboard cutout swords, foam sticks, homemade numb chucks, etc. Promptly 3:35pm begin walking toward the center of 54th street where Colbert Studio resides. At the 3:40pm the appointed group leader will yell a call to action (To Isengard!) and the battle will commence.
