Good Friends of Wayside!

I shall make every effort to return to Briar Pass when my duties permit.
I doubt I will be able to attend this coming market day however.
It is unfortunate, given the current situation with Lady Death.
I believe you share my concerns with Dramthin's attempts at diplomacy with her.

May the Light see us through this hour of darkness,

Brother Cole, do you truly believe that gypsies are responsible for the coming of the undead?
I have heard rumors of this since my first travels, and I will forever regard them as naught but rumors.
You would condemn an entire society for superstitious whispers? You would alter their forms against their will?
Perhaps YOU should "Walk in the Light" and realize the error of your judgment. Such action would do little to serve the Light.

May these shadows fail to the light of wisdom,

The 1/2 a man speaks... ive heard of your kind ... claiming to serve the light of fortanis but cowards all of you.

I do truly beleive the Gypsies are responsible... and the countless undead that have wreaked havoc since the gypsies return is proof enough. Find me a shred of evidence against it and I'd consider your point until then remember whose blood has stained the stones of Wayside for years now. The brotherhood has done more for Wayside than the adventurers have done... even if only for Briarpass.

Brother Cole, you don't seem to be just against Gypsies in this situation, you seem to be bigotous towards any non human in the lands. Perhaps it is not the attitude to be taking to those who keep Briarpass and the surrounding farmlands safe. We have yet to be able to prove that it is indeed gypsies that bring undead, so until we can, please stop accusing them of such. The undead will be around any land in which Chaos magics are practiced, whether gypsies reside in those lands or not. Perhaps you should set your priorities to weeding out those chaoticians instead of spending your time in the dream realm complaining that gypsies bring undead.

Brother Cole, now you accuse me of cowardice? I have never backed away from a just conflict.
You have heard of my kind? You do not even know me, I care not how you would measure men in your ignorance.
The presence of the Gypsies, and the arrival of the undead, are not so simple as mere cause and effect.
You ask me to disprove your statement. What do you offer but conjecture?

Beyond that, even if Gypsies DID bring undead, they are not the ones creating them.
They are allies of Briar Pass, no matter the accusations of the superstitious.
There are those in this land that practice chaos magic, and THEY are your enemy.
That you would consider action against any that are clean of the taint of chaos is foolish at best.

May the Light make your path clear,

Is tha' truly yer opinion? So next time some bloody horde of villians an' necromancers like tha Stonebiters comes knockin', all us adventurin' types'll just bugger off fer a drink or three an leave 'em to yer little brotherhood, shall we? I know I'd rather be doin' that than crawlin' through tha woods again, sneakin' inta a camp an gettin' an arm chewed off fer m' trouble.

I believe what Brother Cole is refering to are the generations we in the Brotherhood have spent combating the forces of darkness and chaos, and the ultimate sacrifice every Brother and Sister makes in pursuit of the Light. Briarpass is new to Wayside and though her inhabitants are courageous and ferocious their considerable contribution to the cause still pales in comparison to what Light has been shed by the Brotherhood.

While I certainly respect Briarpass, she cannot have it both ways. She cannot call upon the Brotherhood, as she did on numerous occassions during the Stonebiter war up to an including the final sortie into the Stonebiter's camp, and then pass us off as blackguards and mindless zealots as soon as we turn our backs. It is true, we are not diplomats and cannot manipulate the political game in Arbor as skillfully as Liddia Fallingstar, nor do we have the considerable goods and income provided by adventuring. What we do have is unequivocal dedication and the willingness to pursue what we know is right and good regardless of the cost, and if that's worthy of the ridicule Briarpass heaps upon the Brotherhood's head, so be it.

I will be attending this coming Market Day, if I am allowed, and will be speaking with those who would listen. Though I was harshly insulted last time I came, I am still willing to extend, if not friendship, at least the respect due to those who have earned it. The recent ugliness with Lurin is proof of how quickly problems can develop between two groups who don't trust eachother. Above all petty squabbling, I am still working for the betterment of the land and the eradication of Chaos, how will I be received in Briarpass with this mission in mind?
