Call it morbid curiosity and being curious about the national average. If anyone has a high number I would love to know which chapter.

Seattle has started a new campaign and we have been told it's a dangerous campaign. Over our first 3 events we have been averaging 5 rezzes. Last event we hit 8. Our gamedays are a much lighter affair since things go bump in the night in The Valley of Ghosts.

I think HQ rezzed the whole town a couple times last year. Not sure on numbers. The most I've known of in SF in the last year and a half was 6.

Huh.. that's news to me.

Which answer do you want? Deadlands has a pace of about 3.5 rezzes during a typical event. However, due to a couple of extremely deadly last stand situations, our total deaths in chapter is 151 over 29 events, for an average of 5.2 rezzes per event. That's a mean of almost 2 more than our median and mode of 3.

Numbers will be misleading; not all chapters have the same number of players. Instead, it should be a percentage, I suppose.

No, Ashbury's never had the entire town resurrect although we had one battle a few years ago where probably 50% of the town did...

HQ had 13 deaths at both the July and August events in 2011. These events had 38 and 31 PCs respectively. So, doing a little rough math, those two games had nearly 40% death rates. I personally haven't previously seen HQ games that deadly for the better part of a decade.

P.S. - My best guess to the "whole town rezzing" rumor would be those two events. At one point in each of those events every town member was either unconscious, dead, transformed into an undead, or hiding in a circle of power/ward. The key is that the hiding people managed to save enough of the others after the initial bloodshed to prevent a complete wipe.

Yep...those are the events I had heard of. My apologies for exaggerating.

Yeah, I think he is looking for more of a median or mode.

Do captures / PoW's count?

Hrm. Still getting the 'invalid form' error when trying to vote on polls, using Chrome.

After digging a bit I have a tentative number of 1266 PC event attendances. With 151 deaths in that time that is a rate of 11%. Of course, there are a handful of double deaths in there, so that's still misleading. Also: 7 perms, which is 5% of all deaths, but I don't have stats on how many were freebies.

In most chapters I've played is fairly common to see somewhere between 2-5 resurrections per event.

However sometimes there will be a VERY hard town fight, something that people are entirely willing to die for, or situations where the NPC enemies of the town are cracking down and really 'striking back' at the PC's. Or sometimes the PC's will just really screw something up and eventually run out of skills and resources. In these circumstances you get the 10-20 resurrection events. 95% of these situations that I've heard about and been in they have been very epic, both for those who died and for the few who survived. Many of the type of players that survive these kind of 'wipes' often play the game to survive these sort of do or die circumstances and often get unjustly pointed at as reasons why there isn't enough death in our game. But players who have 'seen it all' and care to play very conservatively are the exception in this regard rather than the rule from what I've seen.

I have played several events in Chicago, and heard of a couple in SoMN that have had 10-15 resurrections at 20-30 player events.

Death happens, I think our game is at a pretty good place regarding that to be honest.
