Hey Guys,

We have been invited, as a group, to come to Dreamworks' opening of the movie "How to Train your Dragon" in a few weeks. The movie, which opens on March 26th, would be shown to us at the premier on March 20th at 10:00 AM in Chicago.

The movie, trailer included in the forward below, is a 3D animated adventure about a young Viking and his quest to train a dragon. We have been asked to come as Guests of Honor, fully decked out in our best period garb. I need to know inside of 2 days how many of us could be fielded to come play as they have requested 15-25 Larpers be there.

Obviously, there will be media coverage of this event which could help us get more players if we have our ducks in a row. Its free so what more could ya ask for?

I will be there for sure. I am just debating as to weither I should dress up in Liddia garb or as Quetx in Aztec gear. Any ideas?

I'm down, also not sure about going gonzo gypsy or dig out my rogue gear. What's the feeling on armor/weapons? I'm guessing no on bringing boffers but then I may be assuming too much there. I also don't have any qualms about lending out and/or borrowing gear items to help get everybody looking their best and getting our best stuff out there on display.
 
Just be sure they aren't getting you guys there to like have "those weird people" to make a spectacle out of it. In my experience you just want to be careful with "larp publicity" that's all.

Otherwise it sounds like it could be a lot of fun! :)
 
Bring the boffers, we will be doing some fighting before the movie. And we might just have to slay a dragon for the croud. And get the young ones involved as well.

Movie starts at 11:00 AM but we were asked to be there at 9:00 to set up and get an idea what the venue is like.

Costuming:

Be in your best costume for this, its what we were invited to be there as and reflects on LARP as a whole. Call me if your not sure about some aspect of your costume.

Pictures:

We were asked to take as many shots as we can.... so lets do that. Bring your digital cameras and then turn the photos in to me for gobbies.

Reps:

DO NOT bring reps at this time. I will take care of bringing them and tap some folks to bring specific reps. I want to make sure every REP there is safety checked. If you think your being overlooked, give me a call. I will have spares.

Rides:

I can drive up to 5 others from my place. Please, if you have a car give someone else a chance to carpool.

I would like in on the carpool with you, Paul. Also, gimme a call later tonight I got stuff related to this I wanted to talk to you about but I'm workin stupid hours this week so call me when it's easy for you, I'll work it somehow :D.
