I am sober!

Greetings and salutations, mes ami,

A Dragon's Breath gets through any armor, Celestial or otherwise... I'm not sure you're making a good case in that regard.

Greetings Sir Gregor! It has been a long time since we have last had a good conversation and I miss your witty comments.

What I meant was that a Dragon's Breath worth of damage would normally be enough to incapacitate me when I am of full health with Celestial Armor. I did not mean to imply that it would only get through my Celestial Armor.

Flesh golems are tricky things, but that may be worth looking into. In some lands, I have found them to be susceptible to alchemical properties, while in others, I have not. The loss of immunity to alchemies can be compensated for by imbuing the flesh golem body with cloaks/banes against alteration (immunity to curse and command being standard to all golems, flesh ones included). They also still possess greater strength and fortitude than an elf body. Some also benefit from being healed by Earth magics, though, again, in those instances, you would be susceptible to necromancy. Alas, that may be the sacrifice for your love of good inebriation.

I will look into Flesh golems. Thank you for the suggestion!

Alavatar-

Have you considered feeding your body the alchohol while your spirit is within a golem? Should that effort be successful, it would provide a stop-gap until you are able to uncover a method of intoxicating a golem. Sadly, I suspect it would not be an effective means of providing sustained inebriation while away from your body.

-Eli.

Thank you for the suggestion!

I have attempted this suggestion. While force feeding my body a glass of wine, followed by a glass of water to ensure I don't have a hang-over, every hour for half a day has not had any effect while I am stored in my golem it has led to me being immediately inebriated when the spirit store ends along with a substantial desire to urinate. This has been helpful in establishing my preferred state of mind at a more rapid rate when the spirit store wears off, but has not successfully helped me while I am in my golem.

My research continues. A few years ago there were constructs in Andar that were made of candy. Granted, the creator of these constructs was quite made and not too nice, but if I could get ahold of his notes perhaps I could create an alcohol golem based off his candy research.

Current interim fix:
* Refrain from Spirit Storing into a golem until danger is likely, such as while traveling and when something bad is about to happen.

No progress, yet, on either golem research or spell research.

As I am not too familiar with alchemy I am afraid my idea may be nonsensical, however with most things involving something I know nothing about, I sully forth. Perhaps you could try developing a golem with mechanical internal workings similar to yours. Or at least the parts that would cause drunkenness. I don't know how possible that is. You could try experimenting with low doses of poison (since that is all alcohol really is) to see if they have any effect. Be extremely careful with the poisons. Regardless we should have a drink next time our paths cross and you are sans golem.

An interesting idea, but I am skeptical about it working. Most golems are actually creatures of magic, not of mechanics. There are a few exceptions, and those exceptions are still powered by magic at the very least and their internal workings are designed for movement and other defensive/offensive capabilities; I have yet to see a golem that is even somewhat affected by Alteration (and I have yet to investigate a Flesh Golem). And while I know a little about biology, enough to determine what ails a person, and a little about engineering, being a mathematician, I would not count myself proficient enough in engineering to make a mechanical man whose internal workings can simulate intoxication.

However, I have heard there are Oozes that innately intoxicate. Perhaps I could capture and experiment with one of those to see if their essence can be incorporated into a golem.

And a friend gave me an idea to ask a Greater Fae to enchant me with a Greater Fae Curse of perpetual intoxication, despite the location of my spirit. I am loathe to ask a favor of a Fae, but I feel that if such a thing could be done it is worth performing a task for it.

By all means Alavatar if you find a way to intoxicate golems short of fae certainly proclaim it loud and clear in the dream realms so that any malevolent being can take your method and start forcibly imposing it on others who use golems for protection...

In all seriousness if you have to continue in this absurd pursuit PLEASE refrain from announcing it to the world here. There are many evil things in fortanis that would use something like this to do great harm to other adventures. I ask in the spirit of consideration that you contain your comments on the matter.

I believe you are paranoid, Mage Eldarion. If someone really wants to do something forcibly to a golem all they have to do is master the Subjugate spell. Much easier and more reliable than a drunk golem and would last just as long.

And researching something like this is no more dangerous than an alchemist researching an Intoxicate Gas Globe. Completely harmless. Except at parties, I suppose, but that's more the point. I don't see what all the fuss is about.

Golems generally are only immune to the Paralysis curse. Weakness/Silence/Destruction are all curses that can affect golems with potentially deadly results.
Ah, clearly you are accustomed to fighting inferior golems than I. I applaud your good fortune and wish it upon myself scorefold!

Alavatar,

You might wish to seek out Derek Ironhammer. He may very well have a line on a source for flesh golem bodies amongst his resources.

Be wary of da oozez, Alavatar. 'At's how I got hooked on de Euphorias. I was able to contain a Euphoria'in ooze for about a week, an' then it started lookin' kinda dim, and it petered out. I got anot'er one, but it kept splittin' and splittin' inta more oozes. T'ere a slippery lot.

Thank you for the warning, Kerjal! I will definately keep that in mind.

I have had a minor success! I was able to make myself Hallucinate while in my Golem, but while I was hallucinating I apparently drew pink elephants all over my notes so I have no idea how I accomplished the feat.

Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Alavatar
