Ok, so to some degree, I have to agree with JP about plates and mugs. The ones the site provides are not too obvious, except for the plastic cups. And woodware does have some hygiene issues. On the otherhand, new woodware usually is sealed well enough not to be unsanitary, just examine what you are buying and buy new instead of used if you can.
I'm not so sure how good of an idea candles are, but decorating the tavern is a lovely idea. Maybe sponsor an art contest or in someway encourage the artistically inclined to create things.
As for the kitchen, yeah, its very much not in period, especially the microwave and coffee makers, but not as bad as soda cans and what not. (Which I realize I am just as guilty as anyone else for.) But I think if we can look at a guy in a painted hockey mask and a green sheet and see a goblin, then we can look at a stove or a fridge and see some dwarven built kitchen contraption.
For NS staff: Mike and I have a deal for you. You keep the chapter open past October, we'll haul an extra box up with us that is our feast gear and such. And even force Alex to use it.
