I'm just curious

Does anybody know or have the ability to find out exactly how many members the Alliance has?

I don't believe so at this time. Probably the closest you could get is if the Alliance Logistics Committee consolidated all of the local DBs from the last audit and came up with a number, but that would only be accurate up to the time that each chapter sent in their DB...and it depends on what you define as "members" (Active memberships? Attended an event within the past year? 2 years? Ever attended an Alliance event in the history of time?)

In the future, however, this should be a pretty easy question to answer just as soon as the Alliance National Database project is completed.

The other issue is that it's virtually imposible to determine whether or not every member listed in an idividual DB is 'active' I mean HQ has thousands of members if my member number is any indication... But they don't have that many who even play once a year.

Plus you'd need to filter out the players that are in 2-5 or even 8+ chapters DB's because they travel. So it would be a pretty hard question to answer imho.

I don't think it would be tha hard to compile. You'd just need the ALC or someone with access to all of the chapter databases to run reports or SQL queries.

When HQ's new GM took the reigns he had me run reports to find out how many players we have, how long they have been playing (broken into groups of years), how many have played in the past few years, how many played last season, how many have gobbles etc.

With that kind of data you can begin to formulate info on who your active player base is and even how many times they play your chapter. If you then compared that to the data from the other chapters you could get a relatively accurate set of numbers for national.

It'd take time and man power. But what doesn't?
