Information on how to organize

Hello folks I am looking for information on how to organize say a LARP event. I have been wanting to do this for a while and now I am ready but I am not sure if I need to go to my town hall and actually make this a formal event or just have everyone who's interested meet me at the destination at the designated time. Another thing is I need help advertising my event and I have really no idea in how to do so since I don't know many LARPERs around here (btw I am in southern NH) I am sorry if this is in the wrong area but I am just trying to get some ideas and possibly as many people as I can get to join the event. Thank you in advance I hope to get some good info.
