Heya folks list what you loved about the game and your interaction with others!

Guess I'll go first. Here's what I enjoyed in no particular order.

1. hanging and talking with Henry a bit before the event. The thing we can never really explain is how quickly we make good friends at these events.
2. forging the crown , the budding bromance between ulthoc and Grim
3. hanging with Blythedale.
4. Hopping fence. Had a huge blast when the boys in blue went to the darkside.
5. Tetsu and Ignacious coming in saturday. Awesome saturday suprise.
6. The fireside chats.
7. Thomas
8. Marcusagrim Anvilstrike.. MATCHMAKER
9. Dinner after the event
10. Blythedale cabin awesomenes

Really, Ithica? You list role-playing with Sir Eros as a favorite?

I was so doped up on benadryl and allegra I don't remember doing much other than showing up for a few minutes and then leaving!

Thanks, though...

No interaction and conversation was my reference.

Still, Truth is, everyone IC wise, refers to you as hard in your ways, tyrant. Or hang em high Eros per say lol... or what have you. So I felt my arguments was gonna fall on deaf ears...The fact you gave me the time of day, listened to what I had to say and further instructed me, basically the outcome of our conversation on the porch is what I was referring to.

I guess take more benadryl in the future heh :yummy: :funny:

-Toddy

MORE FAVORITES!!!!!

Too much stuff running through my head, so just a short list for now.

Broomis to the nobles and squires at the table with him when the belly dancers arrived during dinner: "Get out your coin purses, Gentlemen. These women are working their way through Bardic College."

Playing two consecutive roles on Friday night where I was tied to a chair in front of Baron Harrison.

Mark's enthusiasm playing the odd cursed creatures.

Successfully running my first long term plot.

Raven's perfect interaction with the Fun Runners (in terms of role play, he knocked it out of the park).

Finally, a shout out to Susie Lee whose interesting and intelligent conversation made the ride home much more bearable and helped to make me less exhausted than usual afterwards.

-MS

First of all I LOVE my new character!!!! OMG It was so much fun to watch every one's faces when they found out she had no memory of the last 10 years and when poeple found out some of the skills she SHOULD have she didn't and thinking on the fly that she lost them due to the memory lost. It was so fun.

So friday night was alot of fun talking to Daniel and watching his face while I explain everything about the memory lost and his being at a totaly lost. It was pretty funny.

Drak like....in a way stalking Red and trying to be her friend all weekend. It was so funny everytime he saved her or did something to help her he made sure she knew and she just smiled and laughed at him. "I wanna find a beautiful Elf girl sleeping in the forest!" "Stop whining" "I'm not Whining whining is for children." "How old are you?" "Okay I'm whining"

Geeb and Drenton and our time around the fire. I was kinda confuesed some times cause you two went from IG to OOG so much I just sat there for a while not knowing what was what half the time. You two were fun to RP with this weekend thanks!

Grim! OMG I was trying so hard not to go Lanna around you!

Speaking of Grim! Him trying to hook Red and Daniel up. That was funny cause Red and Daniel were both looking at eachother like 'Ummmm no....' Then Red coming up with a way to make Grim happy by telling him in a couple hundred years maybe they'll have a fling. Lol!

Amaranthis helping Red figure out why she didn't remember the last 10 years. Bill thanks for the mind **** even though I asked for it.

Actualy getting to fight things and actualy doing stuff for the town. I needed the fighting for my own sanity.

I liked the event alot as Red. I know if I had been there as Lanna I would not have had as much fun.

NPC's thanks for making this such an awsome weekend! If it weren't for you there wouldn't be a game. THANK YOU!

Lots of fun RP this event! Here are my favs:

-All of the Healers Guild RP regarding Hamaliel and his poor, messed up face (AND DEW CLAW!). Lots of fun, especially during the ritual and the dinner :)

-TODDY AS A PUPPY. MY HERO. Ridiculously adorable that entire mod, actually. Just good fun with lowbies! (Toddy:"20 Magic!" Entire mod team collectively peeing their pants: "WHAT?" Toddy: "Oh, oh, sorry guys. 4 normal.")

-I actually got nervous during some of the wave battles! At least I got good exercise getting up and down so much, haha.

-All ridiculousness Siobhan. Playing a prude opposite her = favorite ever. ("THAT WOMAN IS ABSOLUTELY VILE.") Love forever to Maria and Mike, basically.

-Endless advice during chess games! Also, watching Raven own Castleburr's face off at chess was delightful. That poor, grumpy dwarf.

-EPIC. ILLANA. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!". What a freaking murderous howl. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Couple more quick ones..

King Behemoth spider. Toddy was hillarious and mark was awesome sport.

New players, Frank you were the man., Great costuming and RP!

Mark again driving down to the middle of no where to volunteer to entertain. Dude that was awesome of you thank you.

All our npc's from the viking to risi to mike. Folks we don't say thank you enough. You guys make the game so worth it. Ken for your bottomless energy and guile and willingness to give to us thank you man. Im sure i'm missing people names but it's just cause wow.. stuff goes faster then you'd expect. Believe me those folks everything yo do has an impact and is appreciated

The mages guild talk, then meeting with Ulthoc and Nathan about the elemental forge and being a weird dycotomy being a smith and a celestial caster as well as a dwarf and well.. an elemental.

My personal favorite:

This is OOG folks!

I'm there as Xapano, biata elder, speaking with the local biata about ... well, something important. They begin to tell me and I say, as a council member, that it is best that I don't know so the council won't be implicated in what they might do. (I love plotlines like that.) We say our goodbyes, and as I am halfway up the hill, with Ignatius escorting me, someone yells "A gryphon just flew into the tavern!"

We run back and find out the gryphon went into the Healers Guild, delivered a letter, and left. We run in and Zat and Daniel are reading the letter.

Xapano: Do I want to know?

Zat and Daniel: NO!

Xapanao: Bye bye! (Runs out)

-My hands down favorite moment was the speaking at the end of the event. I very much love this community of people, in game and out of game!

-Every single thing about Leona! Wandering deep in the forest by ourselves (which has to happen more! :D), gathering wood to help forge the crown (and learning to support nobility!), studying in the Mage’s guild, and making SO MUCH music! I love how we share the same passions and have similar enough stories that we can really relate and comfort each other. (I <3 you Amanda!!!)

-Speaking of great music and great role play – Every minute with Tetsu was awesome! (Justin you’re so freaking great!) Alda hearing Ryban’s story was very moving for her. Tetsu tells it incredibly well, and Alda was super inspired. Also, Tetsu singing about Kieragani, then the super bugs… oh my gosh, so freaking hilarious. <3
-Nathan sharing his research with Alda, temporarily investing her in the guild (Celestial magic, whaaat?! Feels funny! xD), and allowing her to hang out there all weekend to meditate with the lute! There is still so much to learn, I can’t wait to see how this spell-singing stuff unfolds! We’ve gotta keep doing more in-game talking and studying! :D

-Healer’s Guild mod! (Tom you’re freaking awesome!) I know Alda isn’t even in the Healer’s Guild, but I very much appreciate you guys accepting and including me! Maybe one day Alda will be convinced that joining a team or guild will not take away her loyalty from the forest…. But yeah, learning about the Order Elemental and why we can’t do any research or talk about it or anything was super interesting, though it’s hard for Alda to restrain herself from diving into research and asking a thousand questions.

-War Game mod with Grok and the puppy! (Toddy I <3 you!!) It was a great challenge to have to take them down but keep them alive, and with only two people knowing first-aid, it was so fun to feel important and figure it out!

-Hamaliel and Gabriel! Bah! So intense! So hard for Alda to deal with! (Oh, plot folks, BTW, apologies if there was some confusion about how to roleplay it, especially if I did something wrong…) but feeling uncomfortable around him and not knowing why, then being so nervous about going through the process to try to figure it out… seriously, I thought Zat might have had him killed immediately when she realized he was oozing necromancy. Good stuff, team!

-Alda seeing Khorwyn again after a long winter! Alda really appreciates that, even as a short-lived and unpredictable human, he fully dedicates himself to protecting and promoting the Forest. Actually I think Alda likes Khorwyn particularly much because he is a human, yet still devotes so much to the Forest! (Dave, roleplay with you is always so great! :D)

-The new dude, Frank! Hooleen (Or however you spell it, sorry!) was very polite and very intense! Thanks for protecting Alda during that one scary night battle!

Ok I think that’s enough for now. Sorry I write freaking novels every time I have a thought… I just love everyone so much, I’ve gotta rant about it! :D

This was a great event roleplay-wise for me. Even as a poor, weak artisan, I felt challenged- not as a fighter, but as an actor. Thank you to everyone I interacted with as Hamaliel; every single one of you were great!

So, favorites:

- Maggie, as Gabriel, was amazing. I've never been as constantly immersed in character/roleplay as I was this weekend; I'd argue we were in character a good 95 percent of the time and that, for me, is what Alliance is all about. Thank you for being the best younger cousin ever, sweet pea! <3

- Toddy/Ithica! We didn't get to spend a lot of time together, but what we did have was some really good in-character conversation time. It's so different playing a character so deeply indebted to someone else, and I think I'm really lucky that Hamaliel's got Ithica. I'm really, really looking forward to their future interactions.

- Maria and Mike Engler. In and out of game, you guys constantly kept my spirits up, whether it was Maria as Siobahn constantly hitting on me or Mike and I discussing my "accurate physrep" out of game. I especially appreciated Siobahn's coming on to Hammy from the perspective of a character whose self-confidence is totally shattered; it created great tension between Gabriel and myself as he argued someone of "our status" should not be seen with "that vile woman." Maria, you are an angel.

- HEALER'S GUILD. Especially Heidi/Zat's interest in Hammy's condition and willingness to help a total stranger. It reminded me of what the guild was all about and I got to see if from a perspective I'm not used to. The ritual with Larien and Rowan was great, and my resurrection afterward was really, really fun.

- Accidentally referring to Balls as "Señor" in total, in-game and in-character earnest, only for everyone to lose it and crack up. Additionally, our discussion about Rowan visiting "Old McDonald's farm" and the oddly sensuous stains on one of the tablecloths.

- Frank/Hooleen (spelling?) was wonderful and really, really fun, especially when he was offering chess advice. I needed all the help I could get!

- KILLING BLOW VIA LETHAL INJECTION. I have never felt so badass in my entire life. I hope to do it more in the future. >:3

- I appreciated learning how to handle battles from a non-combat perspective and I came to really love being the guy who scours the field and picks up the fallen PCs. Totally different from Jovunn and still super fun!

- Running up the smoky hill after the Mons and Validus exploded felt like a scene right out of a movie. I was honestly hoping we were running into a battle!

- I, like Maggie, felt some genuine fear of losing during a few of the wave battles. I'd like to see that more often, honestly. I wouldn't even mind actually *gasp!* losing from time to time.

- Amelia's drug-dealing Sarr who was, very subtly, a living pop culture reference.

- Baron Harrison handing me a sword and my immediately dropping it. Poor, noodly artisan Hammy.

- Vertigo'd Heidi's feet falling out from beneath her! I thought Kerrigwen and I were going to poop when she plopped on the ground!

I live for high-fantasy epic plot, and I'd like to applaud Toddo for his three-year long machinations. I'd also like to thank the players for voting and taking the opportunity to literally shape the game world. Even the plot team didn't know who was going to be the monarch until just before the event. It's a rare treat to actually not know how something is going to turn out.

I probably enjoy playing Sonia a little too much, but there are some amazing PCs that really make it fun; whether it's watching Ithica grow from warlord to squire, spending literally a month in-game with her self-appointed bodyguard Sir Daniel, or Amaranthus taking a knee and catching me off-guard both in- and out-of-game, the character has become so much more than just me. Thank you to all of you for constantly enhancing my experience of the game.

And thank you to Emily and Lana for indulging me and letting me combine my favorite hobbies. Lana you learn amazingly fast, and Emily your dancing is just incredible. I'm hoping we can make this a regular thing.

Emily as Ria: "We don't have any money for dinner."

"Ria, we don't need money. Watch and learn" (saunters up to Castlebur and Nevin) "So, which of you handsome gentlemen are going to treat three lovely ladies to dinner?"

Several flabberghasted moments later Castlebur offers to buy, only to find out there's no charge anyway. Meh, we'd still have gotten free dinner. And we DID get free drinks from Siobhan.

Later...
"Spies? Yes, of course we're spies </sarcasm>. Alright, you want proof that we're actually dancers? Bards! Music please!"

Followed by Broomis's "Open your coin purses gentlemen, these ladies are working their way through the Bardic College!"

I had an awesome time this event. Some of my favorite moments:

Throwing a chaos storm! Though it was short lived. Thanks for taking those hits Tom!

The ogre/orc wave! Out of all the wave battles I was in, this was my favorite. We were supped up on euphoria and laughing gas, and I got to throw some assassinates. RPing laughing gas is fun.

The RP! When we were in the tavern with the Dame (I’m horrible with names, even important ones!) and Baron Harrison walked away to get a drink, I thought we were going to get beat down hard and it ended up being some of the best RP I’ve ever seen. Thank you Raven for really, really, REALLY wanting that as much as you did. Amelia, you are an RP queen. The way you played that character, I think I would have been emotionally distraught as a player if you were killed.

The discovery of Archery! I can’t wait until August to play my PC again. I’ve got a ton of ideas running through my head for my PC now.

Thank you to all the other NPC’s and the PC’s.

So many things to say, so little bandwidth. Okay, so there's probably enough, but I'll keep this as succinct as possible!

1. Role-playing! That's what we come for, right? From Alda to Drak, Lucas to Ithica, Derrick (sp?) Dreamweaver and King Broomis and all in between, what a wonderful weekend of role-playing opportunities. This event was actually very combat "light" for me, but it was fun all the same!
2. New year, new gear. Allow me a moment of one part vanity and another part praise, as I thank Amanda Wells, Christine Maudlin, and Todd Silber for creating Khorwyn 2.0. My costuming, accessories and weapons were virtually all new, thanks to the extraordinary talents of these three people, making my first game back this season a comfortable, balanced, and efficient experience. I love that we have so many proficient creators among us, and will always commission within our community first before shopping elsewhere. Thank you so much, Amanda, Christine, and Todd.
3. I'd like to thank the Plot Committee, Collin Babcock especially, for giving Khorwyn the opportunity to shine both with triumph and humiliation. I feel honored that I had the opportunity to single-handedly gather information on a stealth mod for the very first thing I did in-game Friday night. I also feel honored...or is it humbled...to have fallen prey to the wit of our plot writers via Todd Silber as an Amani Ranger, when I had no choice but to walk back into the Black Stag in nothing but my...(clears throat)...tanned and chiseled skin.
4. Tracking the strange swirly-goopy-cariosisy-humanoidy things through the forest, rain, and eventual tomb gave me an extended opportunity to be not only useful to the town, but also created lots of fun role-plays with Baron Harrison, Derrick (sp?), Leona and others.
5. FRANK! As I've joked with our new player, everything is better when exclaimed. Once introduced to the concept of LARPing, Frank dove in head-first and never looked back. All I had to do was loan him my rulebook and player's guide, and he created a character, make-up, costume, and dare I say the most difficult weapon to wield in our game for his FIRST EVENT. Frank, you rock.
6. Attending Ithica's Saturday morning training session on Saturday morning was a wonderful way to include actual useful stretching and exercises into our game. It's a good thing the mercenaries weren't there to ambush us. They would have been rollllllllllled.
7. Amelia's coffee-craving Chaos Elemental made my Sunday morning. Holy crap, does that girl know funny. :funny:
8. The Mons Regalis spectacle, plot, and eventual crowning of King Broomis was wonderful. Just being able to be present and witness such a pivotal moment in our game's plot was great. What wasn't so great was the anxiety-ridden moments in my brain as Dukes, Lords, and Knights began kneeling and pledging fealty, and I feared I needed to do the same as First Ranger of Blythedale. Thankfully that duty stopped before it got to the Squires, because I was so not prepared! :zonks:
9. Being berserked for, like, an hour on Sunday morning? That was hysterical. I love being thrown by Garathon as much as he loves throwing me. The "let's pose Garathon and Khorwyn like they're having gay sex because we have the maturity of 12-year-old boys" moment could have been done without, but otherwise kudos to all who were agreeable to physical role-play once we'd been been stripped of our weapons.
10. While it's strange to say it's a "favorite" moment, I'd like to extend my compassion to Scott for speaking about Joe in our closing ceremonies, and to all others who grieve his loss. I did not know Joe very well at all, but I share in Scott's feelings that we should value one another and our time together to the fullest. Our community is unique, and it is strong. We do not have the ability to know how much time we have here on this earth, but we do have the ability to share and enjoy it with one another. I'm glad we all come together when and as we do, to share our friendship, talents, and lives.

See everyone in three weeks! :D

-Endless advice during chess games! Also, watching Raven own Castleburr's face off at chess was delightful. That poor, grumpy dwarf.

Maggie much to everyones surprise Castlebur won that chess match.......although it took close to an hour

ACK how could I forget?! NPCS! Thank you so so so much! You guys are always my favs! I really can’t believe there were so few of you this time – the things you did were amazing! There must have been at least 30 of you, right? ;) I mean, wow. And especially thanks to Mike Strauss, who dealt with my craziness and graciously gave me rides to and from the event!! :D

I had a really great time this event. I simply played, and it was good. For me, it was a bit of a blast from the past, as I tried to recapture some of the magic of my first year larping. For those that don't know, Drak is my first character I ever played at Nero/alliance (at 15 build 'cause I was hardcore). I came to my first event alone and roomed OOG with people I didn't know. But that first game in 1996, Drak met Derek Dreamweaver and they became best friends. And Scott and Jesse became the best of friends as well. And here we are, 15 years later, playing the same characters up to the same zany antics. Soon after I met and became friends with people like Mike & Heidi, Eric (Baron Ivan), Danny (Sir Daniel), Kathy (Mouse), Mike Strauss (poor, permed Corbin). And there are many more, I'm sure.

And over the years I've met more and more people who have become very important to me. I'm not going to list them for fear of leaving people out.

This past weekend reminded me of the most important reason I play this game. We are a community and a family. We fight sometimes and don't get along, but mostly it's pretty damn good. A lot of us, myself included, didn't always "fit in" because our interests tended to be a little outside the mainstream. But at the game, we are surrounded by people that "get us". Even if we are not all best buddies, we all "get" each other, and that's important.

I also play it to feel like a hero and to take part in epic situations we just don't get to encounter in real life. And to chase elf chicks without getting in (too much) trouble with the wifey.

The NPCs were great this weekend. They worked hard and played fair. I didn't personally see any issues and I certainly didn't see any attitudes from PCs or NPCs. And I fought a lot this weekend.

Let's make the next event even better. Let's just play the game. Let's be epic. Let's be heroes.

Scott

My favorite thing about this weekend was actually getting there and being able to play. After several false starts, and a few turns as an NPC, I've finally ended an almost 10 year PC'ing drought. Talk about long overdue. Much thanks & love to my guy Aaron for holding down the fort with the kids all weekend so I could hit people with sticks.

Second favorite - getting to see old friends again. Scott, you said it well, for me too it was *almost* like playing my first time. Yelling DRAK! across the field all weekend reminded me of all the times Selena and Drak used to goof off like that (remember the whole discussion of deer blood in the AOL chat room?). Danny - it was really weird seeing you all weekend, but not being allowed to rip the feathers off your eyebrows! :P Seriously, I can barely remember an event at Ashbury where we didn't spend 75% of time together, but I'm glad we got to hang a little bit. It was great seeing some of the people I used to run around with and catching up with Mike, Heidi and Jesse. What an awesome warm welcome I got from Michelle, Henry, and all the other people I met while NPC'ing or in the end days of my playing that I sorta-kinda-remember but who remembered me. It was a bit daunting being the returning "prodigal daughter" so to speak, and to know that people were happy to see me helped a lot!

As always - a big shout out to Plot & the NPC's. Rock on! "Nuff said. :shades:

Ok - so enough with the mushy stuff - here's the highlights for me/Mouse:

1) Endless speculation on what the heck the symbols on Mouse's sheild meant. Although we knew the design hadn't been done before, I wasn't expecting it to be such a conversation starter. Prize for this week's most original: the Arrkaddian Hunt (sorry if I don't remember the real name - my brain cells aren't what they used to be!) with: "She likes good beer." An accurate statement to be sure, but still not quite right!

2) Friday night wave battle - Magic Storm & Waylay. 'Nuff said.

3) Getting to not only touch, but to help make an artifact. The crown smithing roleplay - and all the general smithing/philosphy discussions before that with Ulthock and Grim have set Mouse on an unexpected course, and I think it's going to be most fun. All hail the Smith Mascot!

4) The people who visited my camp WAY down the hill. Thanks guys for making lugging it all out there worthwhile. Danny, Red (sorry don't know your OOG name) and Frank thanks for your help with the lugging. I still owe you cookies!

5) Being adopted by fellow Docksidians. Totally true, Guildmaster, we have to look out for another! Thanks for the ward!
Baron Harris (son?) for stepping up immediately, offering Nordenn up to help watch my back. Me to the former Sheriff "I didn't do any of it, I swear". Great Roleplay and OOG talk as well. Thanks for the silver sword, even tho' Ithica got to use it against the werewolves. :P

6) All the getting to know you RP. Best part of being a newbie (so to speak) is that in a way, everyone's NPC's, because I (Kathy as well as Mouse) don't know anyone's story. In particular:
Alda - first person to talk to Mouse in depth, and what a weird thing for this "city mouse" to come across a 15,000 year old childlike tree thing?! (Yes, I know, dryad.) Fascinating character. You play the role with incredible sincerity; nice balance between wisdom, intelligence, and wide-eyed enthusiasm. I look forward to talking to her again.
Hulean - My buddy for the weekend! Frank, you truly impressed me - just read the rule book for a month and half? You play like a seasoned pro. I look forward to more birdwatching and rocking in battle with you.
Ulthok - Great talks, both IG & OOG. I meant what I said about Nordenn. (I realized later that I forgot to add Duke Bryan to the list of Nordenn barons that I've known and I think he too would agree.) This 1st Gen. thinks you 3rd Gens are doing great. ;)

thanks all for a great weekend,
Kathy
aka Mouse (yes, just Mouse... and no, I am not a wyldkin. )
Please forgive all misspelling and incorrect names!

Good times folks!

I have a couple of favorites.

1. Hanging with all of the guys/girls! Khorwyn, Ithaca, Nathan, and Leona. Always a good time and important reason I keep coming up.
2. Jumping the fence with Blythedale. This is something we intend to do often. It would really change the game and help the NPCs if more groups would do this.
3. Frank! I had to take this guy I never met up to the site with me and turns out he's a big nerd too. Kudos to your first event and jumping right in.
4. King Behemoth. Truly funny!
5. Berserked for an hour. Good RP from that and getting in some good physical roleplay was fun. I agree with Dave that I could have done with out the posing.
6. Dinner Saturday. Always a good time.
7. Making the king's crown. Holy crap that was unexpected!
8. The embarrassment mod. Fun, but unexpected. I know I was along for the ride, but it was a great RP moment.
8. Realizing how many more friends I will have to hang out with once I move out of Maryland = Awesome!
