Kitchen Cleanup

Alright folks,

I’m going to lay it out straight for you, over the last few events the kitchen has become worse and worse. People have not been cleaning up after themselves; leaving food spilled while cooking wherever it falls to be cleaned up by someone else or leaving dishes unwashed all over the tavern area. In order to prevent this from happening again there will be a few measures put into place.

First up will be a kitchen cleanup signup sheet which will have time slots available for volunteers on a first come first serve basis, each time slot is one hour. If the kitchen is clean but you still have time left, we ask that you make a sweep of the main hall to collect dishes and tidy the space. Because we know you value your IG time at our events, there will be both Goblin Stamp and IG rewards. Each person who volunteers for kitchen cleanup will receive 60 Goblin Stamps and will be entered in a raffle for IG loot.

Between the hours of 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM kitchen access will be limited to kitchen staff and kitchen cleanup volunteers. You will, of course, still have access to the fridge, freezer, and microwave but all other appliances and counter space are off limits.

No cooking is to take place inside any enclosed building with the exception of the main kitchen area. This includes any kind of griddle, stove, Crock Pot, coffee makers, etc. If a covered area is desired, please use the pavilion behind the tavern that is not the smoking area.

Having volunteers manning the kitchen during peak hours does not excuse anyone from cleaning up their own mess. Individuals found not cleaning up behind themselves when using the kitchen risk losing kitchen privileges. If at any time the kitchen becomes too dirty or too many dishes pile up, a call will be made to shut down monster camp until the kitchen has been brought back up to standards.

The position of Kitchen Cleanliness Coordinator will be created in order to ensure that the kitchen remains clean, safe, and sanitary throughout the entirety of an event.

Kitchen Cleanliness Coordinator: Jorbie Kelley
Responsibilities:

- Ensure that the kitchen cleanup schedule is filled with volunteers.
- Make note of any volunteers that fail to show for their scheduled time.
- Contact Monster Camp if the state of the kitchen drops below standards so that game can be paused until it has been returned to standards.
- Provide an accurate list of people who have worked one or more kitchen cleanup shifts to the Treasure Policy Manager a minimum of one hour before game off.
- Distribute raffle winnings to kitchen cleanup volunteers.
Rewards:
- 60 GS per Logistics period

Instances of people not cleaning up after themselves will be dealt with in the following manner:

First Offense: Persons failing to pick up after themselves are given a verbal warning and will either be sent back to clean their own mess or, if it has already been cleaned, they will be given a kitchen cleanup shift.

Second Offense: Persons failing to pick up after themselves a second time will be given a written warning and they will be given a kitchen cleanup shift for the current event and the next weekend event they attend. The offender will lose kitchen privileges except the freezer, fridge and microwave for the next weekend event that they attend.

Third Offense: Persons failing to pick up after themselves a third time will be given a kitchen cleanup shift for the current event and every weekend event they attend for the next year. Kitchen privileges except the freezer, fridge and microwave will be suspended for one year at which point the offender will have to present a valid food handler’s permit in order to regain use of the kitchen.

No one, regardless of position, is exempt from these reprisals if they have left their mess for someone else to clean up.

I believe that, if we work together, these new and reiterated policies will help keep the kitchen clean without placing the burden of mid-game cleanup on the shoulders of a few dedicated players and staff. Thank you all for your cooperation and understanding as these new policies are being put into place.

When I'm attending, I typically do a late night sweep of the Tavern, usually Saturday night. Late night as in, 2 or 3am. I'm awake anyway. I bus tables, push in chairs, usually wash stuff, and more or less clean up. Everyone is gone, it's quiet...and it's nice in the morning. I'm mentioning this because when you do your sign up, I suggest you (1) include a sweep of the tavern for dishes, trash, gathering packets, etc, and (2) include an evening/early am timeslot at the end of the day.
