Time for the event favorites thread! Lets do this-

1) The lich slaying mod- trying to solve the puzzles while being bombarded by necromancy was a blast, quite literally.
2) The turtle clan mods. Being the only fighter not using a two handed weapon was something different, and having battles where we had almost as many NPCs at once as PCs was intense.

3) WERE-WOLVES (and other were-stuff) night!
I got to bite people and run through the tavern and chase people down and eat another fox-kin and just plain traumatize poor Tarqaq for life and spending the rest of the night freaking out (until I got sleeped and everyone started cheering when I finally shut up) and panicking about being a wolf. Plus the fight was fun (though I've never played a card that big before- sorry if I messed it up a bit). So many parts of that fight were fun... I'm kinda sad I managed to get cured.

That was a blast- hope to see you guys next event!
 
I had such a full and fun weekend! It seemed there was almost always something someone wanted Rhys to do (or she was napping in the tavern). There was so much awesome RP from both PCs and NPCs that I witnessed/was part of.

Favorites!
Turtle Totem Mods - These were all awesome in so many ways. Particular highlights include being surprised (IG and OOG) by the chaos casting elemental Friday night and all of the intense "OMG we're gonna die" difficult fighting
Aftermath of Tarquaq the Werewolf... oh the poetic justice!
Charlotte's anti-Gypsy NPC (Wonderful RP!!!)
The "great" adventurer Blood Blade/Crimson somethingorother/all sorts of ridiculous names.
The food!
Cake (yes, that deserves it's own category)
The ridiculously surprised looks on healers' faces from my response when they would ask me for the first time how much body I was down.
Being taunted during the Lich mod and having my suicidal determination to get back my toy actually help bring down the Lich.
 
This whole weekend was a blast! Thank you PCs and NPCs for making this game so darn fantastic! Now for some favorites, in no order:

~ Everything you did for Mariah's birthday! I can't thank you guys enough for that!
~ Saving the Tree of Life mod. It was really cool to lead the elf plot along, and I'm sure I'll try to help the Diplos again in future.
~ Lich/Glyphs mod. There were a few moments when I was thinking, "If we don't get out soon, we'll be toast", and that's how a Lich mod should feel.
~ Sluagh's cake......
~ Before Logistics on Saturday, all of us outside wasting all of our remaining spells/skills on each other. Life Storm vs. Earth Storm!
~ ".........maybe, Tarqaq......maybe......." ;)
~ Thomas as the "tall, smug guy who wears lots of armor and loves to hear himself talk" with all his entirely true badtalking of the adventurers.
~ Just as I'm drifting off to sleep: "Where's D'Rezz Zandrick?" "...In a tent, over there." "Thank you. Take this for your trouble." That guy totally didn't leave me anything for my trouble!
~ The lycanthropes! Absolute madness everywhere!

I'm sure there are more, but perhaps I'll think of those later. Once again, thanks everyone!

I had sooooooo much fun NPCing!!!!!! I have never been so sore after one weekend but it was all worth it!!!!

I had so many favorites but to be honost I cant even name/ remember half of them.... :mer: it was a long weekend. lol But from what I can remember...
*playing the anti Gypsy/ anti duke and everyone NPC was a blast!!!! although I didn't know this in game but getting Rhys to speak was AMAZING!!! I also loved the song that was sang to me by Maxwell and how a bunch of people tried so many different ways to try to get me to talk about what was going on in my "life". Great Job all!!! :)
*I also liked playing a bunch of different elementals and watching people's different reactions to them.
*When Stephen's character "slept" Tarqaq!!!!! :lol: :funny:
* There was a point where I just snapped Saturday night when the Barbarian ran up to me when I was a wolf and I just fell over laughing.... :funny: good times. It made a bunch of people wonder what the heck the Barbarian did to me. hahahahahaha :D

Overall the event was just awesome!!!!!!

Being the first awake with paul and RP with the elf diplos.
RP with the gardener, especially the part where Rhys was playing with him.
Hanging with the HoG fellows. Davion was very upset when he thought Maxwell might perm.
BtB and Davion have a lot in common.
Kevar challenging Davion to a duel for half a gold, with Davion swinging 2's and unable to say no. I think I did alright!
RP with DG and Stana after werewolves.
Booming elementals - very clever way of doing things.
(Paul as high orc) "Hi, I'm Joren" (shakes my hand) "Prepare to die, 30 slay"
Ahhh, it was nice to stand in the shadows in the evening. I think I'm a dark elf at heart, haha.

Yay! for being able to survive the weekend relatively unscathed to all!! Now to the list...

  • Milosh's Rez story for Maxwell.
  • Spirit talk... "Yeah I was KB'd by my guild mate."
  • Golems. Of all varieties.
  • Getting to the cave and swearing I heard someone say "Sorry Eric. I think we got the wrong Lich."
  • Lich inviting me into his circle and realizing later I should have taken him up on it.
  • Sanctuary being effective. (How long did I have my arms up anyhow?)
  • Loved being able to teach the "Great Adventurer" the proper way to protect itself (not sure if male or female...).
  • And Ressick being a champ and taking 4 normal without complaint. "Ressick do you have a magic armour up?""No. Why?""Can I use you as a dummy?""Sure.""4 Normal.""Got it. Ow. Didn't realize you could hit so hard Eve."
  • Coming to the realization that I can't go on undercover/covert missions and not because I was immediately recognized either. "Oh that's Sere Eldandril's shield. Wait...That's her lady assistant!"
  • And "Just pretend like I knocked you out."
  • The mod with the Yetti. Overall was just fun. Nice to go with the low levels on that one (though I thought I still was one *sniff*).
  • Also "4 normal. That was a total wiff." Barbarian walks up. Charlotte goes down for the count laughing.
  • Overall I enjoyed the all of the Were mod.

 
yeah.... You two broke me. :funny: I couldn't keep it together anymore!!!! hahaha great times!!!! :lol:
 
I have to say, it was the strangest thing to celebrate my birthday with friends again. I haven't done anything special in years, and a LARP event was the best thing that could've possibly happened. :)

- Playing with the SoMN staff's PCs! It was a lot of fun to finally meet your characters.
- The magical rifting fae death-cake! I don't know what anyone has against Sluagh. He certainly didn't make too bad of a first impression on Talitha. :roll:
- The Life tree mod. I was amazed that I actually beat somebody head-on with measly little "two-normal"s. That was pretty cool. And Paul, you're amazing for going through 30+ duals as the only NPC on that mod!
- Periodically napping on Enan. :sleeping:
- The food was delicious!
- The bandit mod. I had mixed feelings on Thomas's NPC downtalking adventurers. On one hand, it was hilarious because everything he said was true; on the other, it was pretty offensive... because everything he said was true. And we couldn't just attack him... because we'd prove him right... It was an awkward situation. :wacko:
- The poor lich, once his circle went down and he ran screaming from us. I actually kinda pitied the guy.
- Life Storm!
- Allendra and Charlotte hiding in Maxwell's cloak.
- Limo ride to and from! I'd never been in one of those before, and riding with you guys was fun.
- Getting stuck between Dave and Paul at afters. :p
- Surprise second cake and Paul with a match instead of a candle. My wish was just "Please don't burn Paul's fingers..." :sweat:
Seriously, though. You guys are the best~!

I'm sure there was more. I missed out on the were mod, unfortunately, due to getting beat down right away by newly-turned bear Enan. Even so, the event was fantastic! I can't thank you guys enough for everything you did for my birthday! I really hadn't expected you to do anything special; I was just excited to be going at all. :) And I hope to travel back to Wayside as much as I can possibly manage.

- Not everyone wanting to kill Allendra!
- All my time spent with Maxwell and all my presents <3
- Killing the tiny exploding trees with a threshold of 6 - finally my 2 normal comes in handy!
- Alice attempting to loot me during the turtle module and then realizing it was Allendra
- Dying to Tarquay as a werewolf and going to the earth circle 4 minutes too early...I was eager to die?
- Maxwell's resurrection by Milosh, "How will you dress yourself? Everything is grey when you are dead."
- My resurrection by Maxwell
- The song Maxwell wrote me!!! (and all the songs Maxwell sang, I love the HoG song!)
- Paul letting me kill one of the elves and Paul fighting 30+ times in a row...
- Izzereck (spelling) doing "1 annoy" to help Allendra fight :)
- Allendra likes Darkelves now thanks to Izzereck (spelling?)
- It not raining too badly until the LAST FRICKING SECOND >_>
- Driving down in my mom's minivan with Stephen, Charlotte, David, Dan, and Andrew - was very entertaining :)
- Playing Spoons and BS
- Rise standing up and yelling "LEAVE" at Charlotte's NPC.
- Thud eating.
- CAKE!

So much more... but I got to go to bed >_<

Dislike = Not really getting to say goodbye and being all wet in the car on the way home :(

Playing the Alyce Wins game, always a good time
Barely managing to make it out of the tavern only to find stronger adventurers strewn all over the ground in front of me- very scary.
The majority of the car ride to and from site, especially our Walmart moments.
 
Ah it was so good to shake the dust off my npcing boots and get back to pcing (yes I know 4-5 weeks isn't really that long...but still!)

My Favorites in no particular order.

1.) Ride to and fro, was actually my first limo ride and was great fun to travel in style.
2.) Getting to play with my PCs, so nice not to have to try to resurrect everyone.....
3.) Paul making me try to resurrect everyone anyway (stupid backlashes!)
4.) Ritual casting Saturday morning, was fun to play away with some pyrotechnics, I'll have to refine the practice in the future, but definitely something I look forward to doing more of!
5.) The RP after the Lycanthrope bit, I was deep enough in the moment that getting the cold shoulder from Talitha hurt, and Milosh's forgiveness/acceptable of my faults actually felt like a physical relief.
6.) Seeing Arkimedies about in game again, the lich mod double storm was deadly, if not for the lack of packets that mod would have been done right there and then.
7.) 'Why do people keep asking me if I'm okay?!' "Because it's obvious you aren't!"
8.) 'Need some healing?' <checks body, down 36> 'Huh, this might take a minute, I can't seem to remember any of my cure mortals...' "Yeah, I know where those went...."
9.) The wilderkyn mod healing, and the downside of death to Necro. "Hey Dave, that was a drain I hit you with..." 'I know, don't worry about it ^.^'
10.) The mercenary guy coming into town, I have a feeling that's not going to end well I suspect.
11.) "Your bed looks like a barrister's bed" - Okay I admit I'm a bit of wimp now a days with the giant air mattress...
12.) Breakfast - Very tasty, looking forward to further tasty treats from the new kitchen staff!
 
Took a couple of days to get to it, sorry guys. :)

I wanted to start by thanking the whole staff for their hard work, Rob, Vicki, & Ryan for making sure that sheets got done, monster camp got to site, and tags got pulled and repped. All the volunteers who repped all the treasure/loot for the weekend, You guys/gals are rockstars. Our travellers from as far away and MN and TC coming out to support us. Daphne and all who helped her get meals on the table for us to eat and of course our NPCs and plot team (minus Nathan i hate that guy :D) who came out hard Friday night and didnt let up until Sunday.

I'd also like to thank mother nature for almost cooperating with this event. :)


Some Favs:

-I loved the RP for the Diplos thing. Lolindir Vanimelde is one of my fav npcs and I almost never get to play him.
-Playing a vine for the gardner mod. (I never crunch enough)
-The rumors about Maxwells impending nuptials.
-The Lich cave and the 180 turnaround when you guys dropped the circle.... I like playing the occasional coward.
-Puzzles, Traps, and some non combat solutions
-Sluagh's deals with some of the PCs and poor Enan being held responsible for it all.
-Chasing Em/Rhys as the Golem through 3 walls of power in a row.
-Dark Elf Shenanigans
 
I'd like to say that this was my favorite Chicago event to date. I respect all the hard work that everyone put into making this event happen. To all the NPC's, runners a food service people, I tip my hat to you.

Now some of my favorites:
(in no particular order)

1. Seeing friends that I don't get to see so often.
2. The hug that nearly knocked me off my seat (thanks for the warm greetin Allendra)
3. The green man as a child, "Hey! where is my book?"
4. Cake ;)
5. Giving presents to Allendra (especially the one that we still have to wait to find out what it does :wacko: )
6. Ryse (spl?) telling the mad lad peasent to "LEAVE!"
7. Rezzing scariness (please don't perm, please don't perm, please don't perm) and when I didnt perm I had both an ingame and out of game emotional reaction. Who knew I could get soo attached to a fictional character :roll:
8. Milosh's rez story for me (had me rolling)
9. Getting KB by a were Bob (my own guildy KB'd me, eh its the HoG, it happens ;) )
10. The car ride out with Rob and Dave, Dave even gave up his Weird Al ticket whn we found out they were sold out. (that is a true friend!)
11. Dog pile in the HoG cabin!
12. Rezzing Allendra was a favorite moment, but lets not make that a habbit OK? :tears:
13. Learning the game of Spoons (its played with cards and real spoons you weirdo :lol: )
14. Seeing a hog wylderkin in a HoG tabard! :thumbsup:
15. making new friends
16. Kobold RP (awesome job)
17. All the great RP encounters
18. trying to calm down an upset town person by song
19. Entertaining the masses with story song and wit
20. Escorting Allendra through the big battle.
21. Paul's elf Army of One!
22. Actually feeling effective as a spell casting duelist
23. Watching a cool RP'd ritual and something "goes horribly wrong"

There are many good memories, thanks all for sharing some of your talents and passions with me in this crazy thing we do!
