PC Crafting Materials survey

Willem Rivet

Artisan
Hello!
I'm JT, and I play a merchant-minded Artisan up in Chicago. The local Merchant Guild was talking about the wider economy of Crafting Materials and how we value them vs. other chapters and I was wondering if I could poll each chapter and see directly from them how the implementation is going there. So here I am!

In Chicago, we value single Crafting Materials as a silver coin. There has been some grumbling about it from non-Artisan folk, and it definitely gets purchased for coin by the Merchants Guild when Town Auction happens so the split is primarily coin (unless the person would rather CM than coin.)

So my questions are:
How are Crafting Materials valued in your chapter? Does everyone agree on this assessment, or is there debate?
Does everyone engage with it, or is it ignored by some groups?
Thank you for taking time to reply. At the very least discuss this amongst yourselves if consensus hasn't been reached.

My DMs are open if you want to reply privately, but I think the public discussion is helpful.

Thanks again!

Hi JT,

The last game we played I believe only 3 people really cared about CM: myself and two others. Two of us are tinkerers with less than 10 tinkering (I think). the other person is my partner and a level 19 artisan. It seems we have valued it at 1 silver at CAAZ for the most part. No real arguments about its value.

I also play in ALV regularly and the price is normally 1 silver there as well. There are times when I have seen people want materials for plot reasons and pay up to 2 silver for them, but that is rare.

So far, it seems like most people in CAAZ and ALV ignore it for the most part. Those that do care about CM have more CM than anyone really needs in terms of crafting. My partner and I are sitting on hundreds of CM and can't get through it all, even with superior equipment purchases. CAAZ has only played two games and CM doesn't drop too often, but we see more than enough of it every game. ALV has dropped considerably more CM and that's where most of the extra has come from.
