The Month of Fire
Through the hot summer months, Judge Hestius Corvus and his entourage are frequently seen around the edges of Silvervale Outpost, keeping the peace between the town and Baron Rast Vorton, as he had promised. The number of human patrols wearing Vorton’s colors has diminished to almost nothing in the Judge’s presence.
The summer has also yielded an excess of fresh food, thanks to previous efforts of the Adventurers. There have been very few nights that the villagers’ bellies have been empty and preparations for the coming winter are well underway.
Silvervale has also benefited from the continued presence of Duke Felidae Treetop, the member of the Elarian Council who has taken the region under his stewardship. Under his watchful eye, relations with Elderwood are at their best in many seasons. Baroness Lathras, the Lady of Steel has been sequestered to her own lands under the order of the Council, pending investigation into her suspicious activities. Thus, the summer has so far been relatively peaceful, tensions of impending war have lessened and the townspeople can breathe a bit easier.
In light of the renewed good relations between Silvervale and Elderwood, the Archivist has been sending his archeologists back into the area to continue his work. An interesting find has gotten the Archivist’s attention.
There are, however, whispers and rumors in the dark. Screams and howls are heard in the deep watches of the night. Mysterious figures abound, menacing, skulking forms scurry through the town like shadows, carrying a foul odor in their wake.
During the twilight hours, as everyone was preparing to close their shutters for the night, a massive explosion rocked The Outpost. All the townsfolk rose to see a plume of smoke rising off in the distance. As a scouting party was being assembled to go investigate, a few of the Archivist’s Archeologists managed to stagger into town, in the wake of the commotion.
