Question on boffer weapons

Sometimes, all it takes is stepping backwards at the wrong moment (say, when someone thrusts between your kneecaps for some unknown reason)

Other times an ultralight meets a pvc core...

mostly it's just someone pulling a godzilla through a melee, baseball batting anything that moves, jumping into the air in a flying marvin with enough hangtime to shame MJ. (That's Michael Jordan... remember, I moved from Chicago, and we don't believe in Michael Jackson)

Strange though it may seem, there are steel core weapons that do fine against ultralights here in Cali. but only in the hands of myself and Greg.

Even we rarely use that particular short sword.

Stupid is in the hand of the wielder, I guess.

wow, you actually have people break weapons at an event? the only way i can even imagine that happening, since i've been in enough combat now to know what it's like, is if someone were trying to literally feat the buck out of you...there's just no reason i can see that you'd need to swing that hard...
Keep in mind weapons get old. A weapon I hit someone with right after it was made, might not be as strong after a wet winter. I have broken 3 myself I think. One I fell on fully (pvc) one was an ultralight bambo over a pvc weapon shane was blocking with, and the last cracked during some combat (dont know when) and when I noticed it I chucked it for a diff physrep (that was a magic item one given by plot, so it didnt slow me down much:) )
weapon breakage is not uncommon becouse of what we use. PVC and kitespare seem to hold up best.

Also note, this is why even if your weapon passes a marshal at the start of game (this is to everyone) be aware of the wear and tear during the game. If you think your weapon might break, check it, get a marshal to re-look at it, or just put it away for now.

I am not plot for this, in any way. My Merchant doesnt do combat you know that:).

And on the flip side, I've had a bamboo core short sword that I've only ever replaced the tips on in 5 years.
