Question - sword under the arm while firing a crossbow?

You cannot apply the Templar Tuck to using bows or crossbows per the Archery section on pg 83. Both arms and both hands must be free. Even though crossbows may have arm bent, it follows the same rules that you cant use a sword with a weapon or shield in that hand.
 
Norm's correct on this. An arm tucking an object isn't free, but that's not a requirement for a shield, which is what the Templar Tuck rule applies to. While using Archery, if your arms aren't free, any attack you make is illegal.
 
now if you have a team and take a knee and lean the swords on your knee or on the ground right next to you that is perfectly legal, or get a sheath and learn the quick draw. There are ways....
