Renewing Magic Items

So I was wondering...

If I have a magic item, and this magic item expires, is it possible to renew it so it works again?
Would this require formal magic? Gobbies? Something else?

A lot of that depends on what you really want. As far as I know, you cant renew a magic item, but you can get one just like it, or re-enchant it just like it was done before. If you use gobbies it will be LCO, but if you do it IG with formals it will be just like a normal item.

LCO...

Local C-word Only?
Local Copy Only?

No one ever informed me what LCO stands for, so I be ignorant.

LOCAL CHAPTER ONLY

And thusly my ignorance has been lifted.

Sort of, but not really. It is possible to "recharge" a magic item by casting the rituals all over again so long as you have the necessary components and formal scrolls.
