Report on the Magical Ice

Scarn

Good People of Wyndael and beyond,

Thanks to the efforts of those adventurers willing to lend the Mages Guild samples of the magical ice and the successful casting of a Lore ritual upon them, we are able to provide this additional information related to these interesting objects. A more academic treatise on the subject is being written for those interested, but for now here is the information the general populace should know:

The cubes themselves appear to be pieces of the northern glacier and imbued with magical energy. The intentional crushing of these objects will provide an individual with a magical boon lasting no longer than five days before fading. No side effects have as yet presented themselves in experimentation or via ritual identification. Effects are dependent upon the race of the individual crushing the object, as noted below (take note: some effects are not yet directly confirmed by observation):

Arieanis: Sacrifice the ability to place a curse upon another to be able to resist the effects of Curse magics twice.

Dryad: Ability to resist ice, fueled by using your natural ability to resist binding effects. May work up to twice per cube utilized.

Dwarves: Dwarven smiths become able to imbue forged weapons with additional durability for a few days.

Dustren: Form an Elemental Burst pool of ice, enhanced by the relative spiritual strength of the person in question. Will affect certain mental abilities.

Elves: Elven archers are able to manifest arrow-like projectiles from raw elemental ice for a period of ten minutes.

Getragen: Ability to Bane ice twice. Will provide a “glacier memory.” – Please note, at the time the Guild cannot confirm the meaning or implications of said glacier memory. Utilize these at your own risk.

Hoblings: Sacrifice your natural dexterity to be able to become momentarily phased out of reality up to twice per cube utilized.

Kel: Ability to bring forth a magic storm effect, limited by the relative spiritual strength of the person in question.

Kesh: Ability to resist ice, fueled by using your natural ability to resist fear. May work up to twice per cube utilized.

Oathsworn: Imbue a weapon with an aura of ice, similar to the elemental blade effect. Note: Stormborn may produce a lightning aura instead.

Ogres: Ability to resist ice, fueled by using your natural ability to resist chaos. May work up to twice per cube utilized.

Sapiens (Human): One may focus to choose the following: a cloak effect against ice, the ability to manifest up to two ice elemental blades, or an Elemental Burst pool of ice enhanced by the relative spiritual strength of the person in question.

Storm’Ren: Supercharge the natural ability to break command effects by allowing them to break the more powerful greater commands, such as enslavement. Will workup to twice per cube utilized.

Wylderkin & Sarr: Taking three seconds to orally consume the cube will completely heal the recipient of all wounds.

Further questions or observations should be brought to Sorcerer Greysen McAllistar of the Wyndael Mages Guild.

OOG: Staff have requested that used cubes be returned to monster camp and plot informed of their use. At that time they can clarify any related rules questions.

Addendum:

These cubes have been fueling the power of the Trolls by allowing them to heal from magical ice effects, amongst other things. This past gathering, adventurers discovered cubes being sought and utilized by the Orc invaders as well.

It would be wise for the population to deny access to these objects from our enemies whenever possible. The extent to which these objects could affect monster races is not completely known.
