If you haven't submitted a character history yet, please see this article for tips and guidelines when writing your backstory.

Going forward, we're sharing a list of restricted character concepts. These concepts aren't completely forbidden, but require plot approval and are not likely to be approved. If you want to play one of the following concepts*, we ask that you check with Plot before your first game:
  • Your character is from across the mists or a land outside the ones described in the Player’s Guide.
  • Your character is from areas within the continent in which we play that do not have a description in the PG, e.g., Singed Desert, Death's Islands.
  • Your character is from a noble house/family, or related to nobility.
  • Your character history involves a magical artifact.
  • Your character is an exception to the norm for their race.
  • Your character history involves ancient history (pre-Year 0).
  • Your character history involves dragons, gryphons, or dragon mages.
We also strongly recommend talking to the race contact for your race or talking to the Plot team when you're working on your character concept. These people can help you learn the local IG history and culture, as well as help you adjust your concept to fit into the setting while still retaining the core essence of what you want to play.

*Please note that this only applies to characters starting out in Alliance LARP Denver. If you are transferring in from another chapter where you've already played an event or several as that character, obviously the character's background in that chapter transfers as well.

Some clarifications based on questions I've received:
  • This affects future characters only. If you've already submitted a character history and gotten it approved, you're good to go!
  • Many of the restricted concepts will be much more likely to be approved if you are linked to another existing character: e.g. characters from Valarion who are connected in one way or another to existing Valarion PCs, characters related to existing PCs who are from noble houses, etc.
  • This only applies to characters starting out in Alliance LARP Denver. If you are transferring in from another chapter where you've already played an event or two as that character, obviously the character's background in that chapter transfers as well.

Oddly pleased by each and every one of those items. Dig'in it.

As an aside- is that blog hooked up or linked from or something from the main alliance denver website yet? Would really like to see it readily visible from our 'home base' as it were. It has so much handy stuff in it and looks really good.

Thanks! I have sent Sorin an email to see if he can make that happen!
