Ritual Batches

When casting multiple rituals together within a batch, multiple casters are able to work together to craft a bigger effect.

Scenario: McWizzy (primary caster) and McDizzy (secondary caster) are casting 4 rituals (5 min each), each of them have 9 levels of formal magic. By working together they have an effective 10 levels of ritual magic (without formal link).

1) Do McWizzy and McDizzy need to continue to work together to cast each of the 4 rituals in order to ensure that they have an effective 10 levels of ritual magic on each of the 4 rituals? Or can McDizzy sit one or more of the 4 rituals out because he is too dizzy?

2) If McWizzy and McDizzy cast 2 of the 4 rituals together, can McDizzy leave the circle (assuming it was a greater circle and rit 2 is done but rit 3 is not done) without cancelling the batch?

3) In the middle of the batch can you switch primary casters? Can McWizzy cast 2 rituals as primary and McDizzy cast the other two as primary with the other assisting? If they switch will it cancel the batch?

4) How long do they have to complete their batch (maximum)?
- Is it 20 min (4 rituals x 5 min casting time) + 5 min = total 25min, or
- Is it 20 min (4 rituals x 5 min casting time) + (4 rituals x 5 min) = 40min?

Thanks!

Keep in mind that the term "batch" isn't really a meaningful thing outside of a ritual's interaction with an extender (or lack thereof) for an item, so that an expiration date (if any) for those rituals can be ascertained. (Someone else could probably explain it a bit more clearly...)

Rituals in a batch are cast individually, therefore, they would need to work together on each individual ritual.

2) If McWizzy and McDizzy cast 2 of the 4 rituals together, can McDizzy leave the circle (assuming it was a greater circle and rit 2 is done but rit 3 is not done) without cancelling the batch?

You can enter/leave the circle between each individual ritual casting, but once a ritual has begun, if anyone enters or leaves the circle by any means other than specified on various scrolls (resurrection, spirit walking, etc.), the ritual will fail (rituals in a batch are resolved individually).

3) In the middle of the batch can you switch primary casters? Can McWizzy cast 2 rituals as primary and McDizzy cast the other two as primary with the other assisting? If they switch will it cancel the batch?

You can switch primary casters for each individual casting, so yes. But once a ritual is started, the primary caster is the primary caster for the duration of that ritual.

4) How long do they have to complete their batch (maximum)?

You have an individual 5 minute block of time between each ritual that is cast in a batch.

Rituals in a batch are cast individually, therefore, they would need to work together on each individual ritual.

Specifically, McWizzy and McDizzy only need to work together on the rituals where they desire to have an effective 10 levels of Ritual Magic. If the Formal levels of one caster is sufficient they can choose before each ritual whether or not a secondary caster is participating.

e.g. McWizzy and McDizzy work together on the first ritual, McWizzy casts the second ritual alone, McDizzy casts the third ritual alone, then McWizzy and McDizzy work together again on the fourth ritual. This is acceptable.

There is only an automatic backlash when someone enters the circle during a ritual in progress. People and monsters can leave with no adverse affects (unless the person leaving happens to be involved in the casting, then that is bad).

Adam's other answers are spot on.
