Are backlash effects considered rituals?

And if so, if you have 20 rits on your spirit do backlashes that target your spirit fail?

1) It depends on the backlash effect.

2) I would say that based on this ruling that it would fail if it duplicated a lasting ritual effect. If it was an effect that caused you to take a "Death" effect from the Curse group, then it would stick.
