Shatter and Spell Books.

Newbie question out of Calgary.

Can a Shatter Spell/skil target and effect a spell book?

The rules state that a spell book is the right size for an "item up to the size of a shield".

With this quiestion, if I know that Person A has a Gas Globe on them or I can see the Phys rep for the globe Can i target it with the Shatter Effect?
