[.11] Slow / Repel Thread

    Slow should be a 1st level spell.
    • Slow is a 2nd level spell. Slow competes with pin.
    • Like Pin, enemies can rip free from Slow.
    • Pin stops people from moving. Slow does not stop people from moving. Slow is strictly worse than pin.

    Repel was nerfed significantly from 1.3

    Repel requires the focus keyword to use now. Focus attaches the following rules to repel:
    • Caster can move no faster than a walking speed while focusing (slow on self)
    • Caster can use no other abilities while focusing (drain on self).
    Additionally, Repel can now be ripped free from.

    With these nerfs in place, repel should have something to compensate.

    Repel should be changed to eldritch force.

    Slow should be first level.

    An alternative to Slow being first level might be that it can't be ripped from, giving it a situational benefit over Pin. But otherwise, yes, 1st level.

    Probably too off the wall for this late in the process, but you could take a page from the new weapon skills that are "effect/othereffect" and have Slow/Repel be a single spell, you choose at the time of casting which one you want. It would bring more utility to the spell, since both Slow and Repel are very useful in the right circumstance.
