HOW DARE YOU! WHAT have I EVER done but my best to protect the health of the living? Have I not sacrificed eNOUGH of myself? For over ten years I've gone out there, unable to defend myself, just to care for others. I've endured dangerous conditions with little self-defense, ungrateful careless fighters, abysmal monetary compensation, and putting many of my personal affairs on hold, all for the love and preservation of life. I have NEVER taken life, I have only given it. I have given it from the depths of my spirit every day.

And THIS is how you repay me? By allowing common undead to be able to rip my spirit asunder with a power that can be duplicated by a novice alchemist for a mere three and a half silver? A power that, only a few years ago, could be mastered by a yearling adventurer? This is the price of my devoted purity? The value of my spirit reduced to so little?

Hear me, o ye Fates, cruel masters of our destiny. My powers of healing are linked to my purity. My purity means so little to you, does it? See what happens to your world when my heart hardens, and grows cold as stone. Witness how the balance of the world shifts when I refuse to heal your darling little fighters. As your love for my spirit is diminished, so is my love, and therefore duty, to your precious heroes.

If you wanted my wrath, you now have it.

No, I am absolutely NOT okay. I am beside myself with rage. Have you not heard the stories? Poor, innocent healers being permanently tainted by common undead? It is an outrage. More than that, I can't work like this. First, it was that jerk in the Deadlands, then those shadow creatures in Caldaria, and now THIS?! That's it! I quit! No more healing! I'm done. Forget it. I can't do this anymore.

No I have not heard anything about healers being permanently tainted by undead. I understand your being upset I just want to that no harm has come to you. If you are at the gathering in Fairdale at the end of the month I would be greatly interested in hearing about this.

Forgive me, I do not think that we have met in person, but the dreams of your cries have greatly troubled me. I struggle to think of anything more revolting than undead marring a healer’s spirit. Earth magic holds unparalleled beauty, and compassionate healers are among the world's most needed. I am certain that the only reason anyone could be unappreciative of your gifts of life is because they are simply unaware of the sacrifices you make to maintain a peaceful balance. I find myself shocked at the news of these healer's troubled spirits, and I apologize for my ignorance.

I assure you, I will continue to devote myself completely to the fight against the horrors of the undead and necromancy, and I know that I do not fight this battle alone. There are many brave adventurers who see the horror in necromancy and will do their utmost to stop it. Please do not let the ignorant offend your gracious purity.

I plan to attend the gather at the end of this month and would greatly appreciate meeting you to discuss how we can stop this tragedy. Regardless of whatever ingratitude you have faced thus far, I am confident that, in the end, the earth and all its forests will not tolerate a healer being tormented by such chaos.

Please do not lose hope or forget the beauty of the Earth!

It is more than just ingratitude. If what I am hearing is correct, healers can be forced to "heal" an undead using chaos magic against their will when this was not previously possible. I am uncertain of what all magics can do this but I have heard dominate can now force you to heal the undead who now controls your will. I have no solid confirmation that this is true, just rumors I have picked up while traveling over the winter, as I'm sure others may have heard. If this is true, it is quite horrid and fearsome for any who channel healing. To know that your spirit, your energy, could be perverted so... against your will... words fail me.

Friends, we must all come together at the upcoming gather and put this to an end immediately! I may not know you each in person as of yet, but our dreams can pull us together. With our collective knowledge, we will find something we can do to protect the harmony and balance of the natural cycle! We will not succumb to this horrible chaos. It will not be tolerated!

The Undead and Vampires have always had this capability. It is nothing new that our enemies will try to corrupt our minds and spirits. Many of our enemies have used this tactic in the past, sometimes with success.

Awaken spells and potions, the racial ability to break command, high magic defenses and certain magic items are helpful against these foes. Likewise Purifies and Dispel Magics are effective. We have cut down our own so that they can not finish a charmed necromantic verbal.

Legally speaking it is not a crime to cast necromancy in a magically or alchemically compelled manner. The creature who is guilty is the one using these foul abilities. They will pay dearly for using this evil power. Nothing that comes of it is beautiful or lasting. I understand that some adventurers may wish to remain "pure" for the entirety of their careers, however sometimes this is not a realistic goal. If you intend on fighting vampires, will o wisps and dark fey: you will sometimes earn their ire. People who are on the "front-lines" are most at risk and thereby must rely on nearby shield-mates to come to their aid in the circumstance that they are made to do something against their will (like cast necromancy, murder a citizen, steal from friends, break the code of chivalry, etc).

I do not say these things to belittle anyone or make a joke of the situation. In all seriousness: to some there are fates worse than death. Good people have fallen along this road. It is best to remain calm, learn from history and use tactics to counter this evil. I do not believe that this makes it unwise to memorize healing magics. It has always been a serious responsibility, with terrifying dangers associated with it. Earth magic is more than useful, it is a necessity to the survival of the civilized peoples of Fortannis.

Hear me. It am your friend, Tetsu. You cannot give up! I cannot even conceive the idea of you giving into any will or force. As adventurer' you know that am one of the most heinous risk'. There are force beyond our mortal power that will control us. It am inevitable. You speak of those force' yourself.

You will not give in. I know it because you are too mighty. You are the panther. You are the one that inspire me to creep on belly to find Sir Koshinara when we fought the craven together. You are the one that inspire me to follow my Uncle and Lupi into all kind' of forsaken pit'. It am not only my Orc blood that make me fearless, it am friend' like you who stand up to these kind of odd'.

That' am all this is. Just one more thing. One more thing to make us diligent and use our spellshield' wise. One more thing to make us put down that extra mutton leg so we can move fast.

I am not a necromancer, but I have been force' to cast necromancy. I try to kill myself in rage for my transgression upon Fortannis. I know better now. You must not condemn self. Vengeance upon those who twist our righteous power must be swift and precise. If you give into this now, then the undead have won. If you give into this now, chaos has won.

Don't let them win, Natalia. Fight with me. You, me, our friend. We will purge the field of the fiend' that try and control us. We will turn their remain' to ash beneath our boot that feed Fortannis.

Be defiant as you always am. Be the beacon that I know you to be. Be the jingling, brightly color', incredible fasion sense torch in the dark.

Aside from the knowledge in my heart that these chaotic, earth-destroying powers and completely evil and detestable, I have very little practical knowledge of the extent of their capability. The more I learn, the more appalled I am. I would greatly appreciate meeting with you to more thoroughly discuss what we face and what we can do to stop it. I am particularly interested in the past few thousand cycles of seasons that you call your history. The history I know is peaceful sleep and blurred memories of a peaceful time. ...


I encourage all friends who share this passionate detesting of necromancy to speak up, explain what we know of this threat, and what we can do to remedy it! Either through dreams or through meetings at this upcoming gather, I appreciate the sharing of wisdom in any form.
We can build harmony and balance in the world through cooperation, friends! Natalia, I implore you again, do not give up hope. I apologize, I didn't mean to make it seem as this is a completely new risk. Sir Ignatious is correct. What I meant to draw attention to is that I have heard is the risk is more probable since dominate now holds such sway that it can force you to heal the undead who cast it or poisoned you. I have no concrete evidence of this yet, only overheard conversations and now Natalia's outraged response further concerns me. I can only hope these are just misheard stories...

I have spoken with representatives from the Royal Mage's and Healer's guilds in regards to these reports. Much of what I was told made little sense as I am not magically inclined myself, but it seems that the nature of magic is like a tide on the beach, its power rises and falls and spells can become more or less powerful based on the tide, much like a beach changing subtly every day. Those magics that control the mind have become more powerful, allowing those who dominate another's will to compel healing from those they control, be it an undead beast taking over your mind or an Ice elemental compelling a wizard to cast spells better used for offense to heal the creature instead. From what I am told there is little that can be done to prevent these changes to magic, we must accept them as reality and be vigilant when facing creatures armed with such power. Sir Ignatious has correctly cited the law's intent on this matter, thank you My Lord.

I would be more than happy to discuss this topic with you in person. With vigilance and foresight this threat can be met with confidence. I am always willing to discuss tactics and strategy with any adventurer that braves the dangers of Trellheim. It is my single greatest hope that we can pass along wisdom and practice to those who will succeed us; even with the flippant nature of magic. We must adapt and be resilient, if we are to survive.

I can not speak for thousands of years of history. The Children of Autumn are said to be older still than the most ancient legends I am aware of. For my part; I can outline the last two centuries at best, even then the point of view is not of any worthy context to you. I would suggest you seek a worldly-creature far older than a Biata. Perhaps a Dragon or a Griffin. Be very careful when dealing with any creature who claims to know what has happened in the far past. These creatures have very little reason to maintain veracity as the years dull their minds and hearts. Remember that it is possible to learn from history, while not being controlled by it or influenced unduly.

Sizter, I understand how this can make your blood boil. However, if zhose of us who heal stop travelling and helping or only memeorize non healings spells den our enemies win. Zhere are many way to prevent worzt case scenario. Erst, we can make sure all helaer have plenty of poison sheild, I vill make sure you hafe plenty of potion shield potion to carry vit you. If you still vorry take vhat healing you are villing to take if any and ve will make sure you fully supplied vhit mass qvantitites of healing potions.

What do you want me to say? Some of you are speaking in paradox.

You say do not let them win. You say that not memorizing healing lets them win, At the same time, you speak of being made to cast it as an eventuality.

If it cannot be avoided forever, then, how is letting them make me into a necromancer NOT letting them win? How is letting them corrupt my spirit NOT giving in?
One can speak of defenses and tactics, but do not underestimate them, or insult me. No defenses are invulnerable. I have seen even Baron Rorii run in fear. And as for stopping me, don't assume you can. Is the whole point not that I am GOOD at healing my target?

I am NOT a brave adventurer. I am NOT a hero, neither a soldier, nor a noble. I have given more than enough of myself, and you have no right to ask this of me. You have no right to ask me to sacrifice my spirit. You have no right even to ask me to take the risk of something so abominable happening to me.

Sir Ignatious, I know from whence your perspective comes, and it seems right for you, but I am a different person from you in many ways.

Ket, thank you for your offer. I had every intention of trying to collect as many potions as possible to compensate. For surely, my ability to get to people to heal them is not diminished.

I do not intend to hand the undead another weapon, or the taint of another spirit. I do not intend to give them the opportunity to make me heal my friends with tainted magic. Permanent scars may be acceptable for some of you, but they are not to me. There are other ways to heal people, and other ways to dust undead. I do not intend to hate them any less. But I will not offer them my spirit.

If anyone has a problem with that... I guess our priorities lie in different places.

Oh, and Tetsu... what can I say... I'm sorry for your loss. But, um... what makes you think that your forgiving yourself is not just the corruption trying to seduce you into accepting it?

I only wish I were already back to my Vestacha. I know he does not always hear these dreams, and I wish I were there to talk to him when I learned of this. I shall have to send him a letter.

I may see some of you soon. Please take care of yourselves. I still care about all of you.

In a way, think I understand where you are coming from even though I have no earth casting abilities myself. I am eager to speak with you, and will do so hopefully in a little over a week's time. Stay strong and vigilant until then. I am not saying you have no reason to be as furious as you are, and I know it is like telling water not to be wet, but do try to calm yourself as best you can. I want to see you arrive in Fairdale whole and unharmed and at times anger can be... detrimental to safety. I would be happy to meet with you along the way and escort you if you do not already have someone to travel with.
