On Friday, the 25th of February, the estate of Starfall was struck by disaster. The Tower of Healing, famed for its sarr-inspired architecture and advanced healing techniques, was struck by several bolts of lightning during a sudden, and intense storm. Witness accounts vary, but what does seem consistent is that a storm arose off the coast of the seaside estate, and proceeded to cover the town in pelting rain, and flashes of lightning in mere moments.
Within the tower, survivors recall whipping winds never before seen, and the stone tower swaying in the storm. An evacuation of the building was ordered, with resident Dame Mesha Orenda, the Admiral of the Ducal Navy, taking charge. Many credit their survival with her leadership, however, during the final moments of the tower, the Good Dame Knight was seen aiding the last of the fleeing citizens, when the tower came tumbling down upon them.
None of the victims of that final collapse have resurrected, and rescue efforts continue, with the hope that more may be trapped beneath the rubble. Steward Artemisia Tamlin was last seen organizing the rescue efforts, with aid from neighboring estates, and Watson’s Ferry, across the Silverhawk River.
Starfall has had its fair share of troubles recently, as continued attacks by serpentmen plague the southern portion of the duchy, disrupting trade, kidnapping citizens, and rampant piracy of military goods. Lest no one forget, Starfall also lives in the shadow of Starfall Isle, a cursed island, which few have ever returned from, and is often blamed for disasters around the Starfall Sea.
It remains to be seen whether this terrible tragedy is the harbinger of things to come. A few eyewitness reports claim the storm seemed to center itself on the tower, and an ominous sickly green glow emanated from the storm before the tower was ultimately felled be several strokes of lightning.
