Starting EQ for new character

When a new character is rolled, does it start with a weapon or should I use gobbies to purchase his starting eq? Been awhile since I rolled a new character.

When a new character is rolled, does it start with a weapon or should I use gobbies to purchase his starting eq? Been awhile since I rolled a new character.

You get stuff based on the skills you buy. If you buy a weapon skill, you'll get a weapon tag, and if you buy spellcasting, you'll get a spellbook and so on.

You can of course spend gobbies to have some extra things, like potions or a spare weapons or a bit of extra coin, if you like. You can spend up to 100gs total on these things.
