Strongblade LARP Weapon

Some will pass it, some will not. The first thing that pops into my mind as a reason for it not to pass is the pointed tips. However, I have seen latex swords passed with similar tips.

It really comes down to your marshal and whether or not they've had a good day.

I'd also be concerned about meeting minimum head volume.

I just had a strongblade weapon fail.

I don't blame them, either. About the last 4" of the blade had no core. The entire hilt was hard plastic. There was not much padding on the weapon. I hit softly, but someone who doesn't could easily give a welt with that weapon. I'd advise avoiding weapons from that series that don't look like they'll pass - cause they probably won't.

And padding amounts on the shaft, and the handle size. I'd email the manufacturer and ask for more info on the specs.

Below are some additional specs! I also found a video of the weapon on a different site: http://www.calimacil.com/scrow.html that shows off the "squishiness" of the head.

Thanks again for the help with this!

The head and the body are solid Calimacil foam, and are thus extremely durable. The flat face of the War Hammer is also far softer than the normal Calimacil sword blade foam, which make it safe enough for use in any LARP. The detail on this weapon is amazing and spectacular!

-weight: 0.85 oz or 24.1 g
-handle style: medium-firm
-handle size: 13" long x [1.25" x 1"] oval, or 33cm long x [3cm x 2cm] oval
-handle composition: Calimacil foam
-hammer head: 8.25" or 20.6cm
-striking surface diameter: 3+" or 7.5+ cm
-spike: 3" x 1.5" or 7.5cm x 3.8cm

-foam weight: Calimacil proprietary foam, lightweight, sturdy, distributes force

Couple of things:

Strongblade is not a latex weapon manufacturer, they're a reseller. I believe you can identify the manufacturer by their URL if they don't outright say it. For instance, the url "http://www.strongblade.com/prod/sbif-spartan.html" indicates an Iron Fortress weapon. "http://www.strongblade.com/prod/sbcl-swd-highelven.html" indicates a Calimical weapon.

Alliance Seattle has the following statement re: Calimical -
we urge caution when purchasing Calmacil weapons. These weapons are beautifully made but are significantly stiffer and heavier than most other lines of latex weaponry, and will require significant extra caution when using them in combat.

In my experience, calimical weapons are beautiful, but akin to getting hit with a truck tire. They aren't really appropriate to our game and how we play.

Thanks for the info (and saving me some money)!

Can you recommend some popular LARP weaponsmiths out there that make products in-line with Alliance weapon standards?
