You sleep. And while you sleep you dream. It is during these times in which outside forces peer into your story. What do they see in this tale you have told? Will you become a legendary knight that concurs the evils of the land? Or will you become something sinister that terrorizes the shards you call home?
As you slumber and have visions of the great things you have experienced, you are visited by a tall figure dressed in thick brown robes. The figure's hood covers their face and keeps their eyes hidden from yours. The figure pulls out a massive book from underneath their robes. It opens the book and begins to flip through the pages. It suddenly stops, and addresses you with a voice that is both masculine and feminine at once; a booming voice and hundreds of whispers fill your ears at the same time.
"Greetings Traveler! I am Fate. And this story you are about to enter is not yours. We Spinners know of your kind. You seek to travel to the shards of Fortannis in search of glory, friendship, power, riches, and much more. But know this: the Shard of Aetheria is not yours to fool around in. There are rules, and they must be upheld in order for the 'Destined' of this realm to reach maturity. For if they are found lacking in their future trials with the Outsiders, then this story will have been for naught, and this whole shard may crumble.
As the 'Exalted' such as yourselves, we are sure you do not wish this! Therefor, we expect a certain amount of kindness to be shown to those who are just beginning to tell their story. We wish for you to guide them, and to assist them in their own glorious legends. But do not think that this story is exclusively for them. We Spinners have always dealt with the Outsiders, as they influence our stories with their filth. Even now, we feel their presence in the lands of Malidor's Outpost. They have altered the nature of the very soldiers our heroes must face! And for that, we need your help.
We have made it easy for you to follow. When you encounter the imperial soldiers, you will know their level of Outsider corruption by the colors they wear. The red and white checkered uniforms have been specifically designed to fight the 'Destined' and should be left alone for them to conquer. Those of the solid white uniforms have been influenced by the Outsiders to be a challenge for both the Destined and the Exalted. But it is those soldiers in the Red Uniforms that have been so influenced by the Outsiders, that only the 'Exalted' should challenge them. Surely, any 'Destined' that fight them would perish at their hands. Be warned, that other creatures and situations follow these rules as well. You will see them as the time comes, and when you do, know that we have done everything in our power to assist you in your travels. We bid you a good evening, and may your destiny shine brightly on our pages."
The figure bows and evaporates into the mist of the dreaming.
