Acting in the stead of the Duke, the Conte di Avolo of Omar Nadine has placed an official bounty on the head of Master Leopold Bellwether of the Merchant's Guild for his role in the attempted poisoning of Allied Trevaelian Army soldiers.
A squad of soldiers took ill after dining at the commissary. One of the ATA's expert healers was able to identify the men as having been poisoned, and further investigation determined that the tilapia served at the commissary were laced with an alchemical concoction of unknown origin. When questioned about where they procured the fish, the quartermaster named Master Bellwether. Sources in the marketplaces of Omar Nadine support the quartermaster's claims; no other fishmonger has sold tilapia in recent days, due to Master Bellwether's fishing fleet having claim to most of Omar Nadine's fishing lanes.
Master Bellwether escaped the ATA, but the soldiers were able to prevent any more of the poisoned fish from being sold, and successfully stopped all fish sales in all inns across the city. The ATA will not disclose how much fish has been confiscated, but will say that the amount is too large to have been happenstance, and indicated that the poison appeared to be an attempt to inflict the companies stationed in Omar Nadine with debilitating illness. Such a poisoning would have been widespread enough to leave the city all but incapable of defending itself against attack.
Sources close to the Conte name Fathomfall as the suspected source of the poison. The Fathomfall diplomat stationed in Omar Nadine denies that her people would ever use such an underhanded tactic, and is funneling her own coin into the investigation into how the poisoned fish found its way into the barracks.
Master Bellwether is described as a hobling of average human height, with red hair and brown sideburns. He was last seen traveling through the Omar Nadine Mist Gate to a node somewhere near the border of Twinspire Vale and Arbory.
